My gawdammed fuel door cable broke this morning!!!!!!! Has anyone else had this happen? Has anyone else fixed it themselves?

 

did the actual cable snap? or is the door not opening all the time. when i first got the car i was having troubles with the fuel door. to fix it i just bent back the metal latch a tiny bit so that it would release. been good ever since. but if the cable snapped then....

 

I don't know. Nothing is happening when i pull the lever and I didn't have time to deal with it this morning.

I don't know that its snapped, its probably stretched. How do you get into it from the back?

 

maybe pull the trunk liner out and see if it works from there?

 

I pulled the trunk liner saturday morning. I still don't know why it stopped working. If this ever happens to you, reach behind the trunk liner, feel your way to a cylinder with a tab on either side and twist it half a turn counter clockwise and pull. The door will release and you can see what is going on.

 

so what did you find? does it work now??

 

My fuel door "sticks" regularly-- I find that if i push the button it tries to open, but the door doesn't pop out; if i get a credit card and wedge it in the door it will pop out-- pretty ghetto to be standing there at the gas station trying to pry it open but that works for me...
