Gas Mileage Drop???? Wtf?

Any one know why my gas mileage would drop like a muther after an AEM CAI install? Its my first tank of gas right after the install, and i am about 102 miles on the Odometer and i have 1/2 tank left?? and i drive on the same roads...normally, 100 miles, id still have 3/4 left....

I THOUGHT AEM was suppossed to INCREASE gas mileage....comments anyone???

my only guess would be that you are driving faster

Seriously, you shouldn't see a drop if you're driving the same way. I know that when I installed the CAI I also saw a drop.. but I was driving harder (that sound is addicting). Once I started driving "regular" again my gas mileage was the same as it was before the CAI

The car will reset itself in a matter of a day or so... so if you don't manually reset the battery you'll be OK.

If you do decide to disconnect the battery, like was mentioned above, make sure you have the radio code handy.....

The Ecu uses the sensor imput's and see more air being taken in to the combustion chamber...a lean mixture...so the Ecu richens the mixture to compensate for the extra air!!!Thus more fuel is used .

so are u saying i should reset? or leave it and itll adjust to my driving style? i dont want my window to be fuct like the other guy's....also, question for u thats off topic,

when im in D5, and going like 40mph, barely pressing the gas..prolly in 4th gear, i dunno...i sometimes feel this slight jerk/hesitation, but only fer a split sec.....is that the torque converter? or potential tran failure?? thanks

I just gained 1-2 MPG with just my K&N drop in filter. Same route and same type of driving I am now getting about 21-22MPG vs 20 MPG before the filter. No battery reset was done.

As for that tranny stutter at 40mph mine does it on occasion as well. The tranny is not slipping in my case but I think the computer is having a hard time choosing 4th or 3rd gear. I was in a Ford Ranger that did the same thing between what would be 2nd and 3rd gear in that vehicle.
