Gas

If this question has already been asked I apologize in advance.

What kind of gas do you put in your car? I usually always stop at the Shell station close to my house and ALWAYS get premium. Friday morning I took my girlfriend's civic in for service and she took my car (01CLS) to work. The gas light was on so I gave her money to fill it up. She got regular. All of last night and today the car does not feel right and the matinence required light is on.

Anybody ever used regular gas (87 octane)? How did the car respond?

dont trip, it wont kill the engine man...just drive the car and finish out the remainder of this gas, and on your next fill up, as well as every other fill up, stick with premium .

91 octane or better ONLY! It's noted in the car manual and inside the gas door.

i'm thinkin about using 89. gas is too expensive and i don't care about the performance. as long as it doesn't hurt my engine i think i'm going with something cheaper.

To turn it off:

1) Car in park, car turned off.
2) Hold both the trip and reset buttons in.
3) Turn key to the "ON" posistion but do not start.
4) Hold the buttons for another 10-12 seconds.

You should be good to go. The light will come on briefly, along with the other dash lights, when you start the car and then go off.

Same here in NorCal. With premium over $2.50/gal, every other tankful is 89. I can feel a small decrease in performance but damn it hurts to spend nearly $40 to fill it up. Plus I drive almost 2K miles per month so it adds up.

if you read any of the techno-babble on acura's website it claims that the 3.2 has several knock sensors which PREVENT any pre-ignition (knocking & pinging). this system works REGARDLESS of what kind of gas you use. if its true lower octane won't damage the engine. it may not run as fast or idle as smooth but it shouldn't hurt anything.

that's all theory up till now. your one of the 1st test subjects. think of it as crash test dummy training.

My service manager suggested I alternate between 89 and 91, I see absolutely no diffrence in performance or gas milage.
