i spanked a g35 too, nasty style, i was 1 car length ahead of him by the time my vtec kicked in 2nd. i ran him twice and both times he lost by 3 car lengths or more. ive also spanked a 330ci b4, but it was a convertible. the cl has soo much potential its not even funny. i kept up with an m5 one time with a total of 3 people in my car, and this guy was serious cuz we hit about 120mph and i was only a car length away and we were on a curvy road too. ive also beat a f150 lightning, but he was on 20's!

I call TOTAL bullshit. You did not keep up w/ an M5 PLease I've raced 3 of them and a 3-4 car gap existed. At 120 our car is a dog and the M5 is not even near it's potential.

That body design, same as the 540i is fucking amazing at handling for such a large car. My gf's mom has a 540i, and I've driven it on several occasions.

Not to press the issue but if your talking 01' to current M3 ther is no way ever you'll even come close unless the M3 driver is a complete shiftless moron or leaves his E brake on. I've raced 3 M3's new model and it wasn't really even a race. Let's stick to IS300 bashing and V6 mustang beating.

I couldn't agree with you more, I just wanted to present an example of how we would have a better chance in beating a new gen M3 (when hell freezes over) over a new gen M5 (when hell freezes over, thawes out, and then freezes over again )

 

ok easy fellas, i can put it on anything, there was some traffic and we were on sunset b4 ucla where it gets curvy, it was def a m5 it was on 19" hre's that where blue with a chrome lip, blue m5 too. i didnt believe it myself, my guess he couldnt drive and handle the curves. and the lightning, beat him twice. he was behind me then we both boned out and he was behind then around third gear 6000rpm he started creapin on me then we hit the light. so we run again and i had by a car off the line then again on third he started inchin up and then we kicked back and at the light he gave me a thumbs up and took off in another direction.

 

oh by the way we can keep up with m3's and maybe beat them depending on driver cuz they only have 262 torque and 333hp is bs, i drove one, its b.s. till about 4000rpm thats when it goes but either way i think we can keep up no more than a car length away.

I got KILLED by a M5 from 80 to 150mph (Well obviously he was doing 170mph cause I could no longer read his plates). I mean KILLED. I was so in awe (to this day) that 400hp simply KILLS 300hp. Plain and simple.

400hp vs 260hp with 3 people DO THE FOCKING MATH!

 

Getting back to the G35, they have OUTSTANDING mid-range power, they are as fast as Type-S cars IMO. Quick cars.

i raced a new M3 and beat it..i could be wrong because i dont know the details of the 3 at all othe rthan 333hp and a high likely hood of going boom...but ,i think like the s2000 the car has to be really wound out to make the low numbers it's capable of ,and i think it can be launched really hard...so if you find your self up against someone thats really not a driver .soft launch and short shifts i dont have any trouble beliveing in "i beat an 2002 M3" some of you need to stop thinking that every person that drives every car can maximize its potential...say what you want i write these next few words knowing some of you will freak out but belive me or not i will NEVER lie about a race...i dont care if i win or lose...its not for money and i have just about as much fun either way....i have beaten an M rodster,new M3,late RX-7 turbo,GTP w/smaller pulley,WS6,and Z28 late modle,99+GT,S2000,mid 90's vette vert,98'cobra

the Z i beat to 70 he turned off the ws6 i beat to 70 but conttinued to 80 and he to around 100 as he put lots of cars on me upon the shift into 3rd i dont mean to say i stoped racing and he keppt going i mean by time i was at 80 he was at 100 im guessing but he was going away quick...oh i allso lost to 3 5.0 foxbody stangs that were heavily worked...all friends of mine...but i got something in the works for them

Damn, Viinny I think we raced the same Martian. I had the same exact thing happen to me on Route 50 near Pohanka Lexus. Except he got me off the line by about 2 cars, then when we hit the twisties he couldn't hang so I past him. Did I tell you this dude had 30 inch Hamann rims?

 

The whole M deal is being beaten to death so i won't even comment. However in reguards to the Lightning, he didn'tsay if it was a new or older model. Cuz the older models are indeed slower and can be a good race at times.

Oh yeah and sorry to break it to ya but those Hovering Space Ships aren't shit until after 80+ mph.

I have an old M5, maybe 330hp with chip. I raced my buddy's new M3 from an 80mph roll, my sweet spot in 3rd gear. I was hovering at 5k when I nailed it. We were even until about 105 or so where he started to pull hard. I was thinking, not too bad. Then I called him on his cell and he was in f***n 4th gear. He would have slaughtered me in 3rd. Don't get so caught up in those torque numbers either. They pull hard from 2k and really wake up at high rpm. In other words, they pull hard from 2k-7900rpm. How else do you explain low 13's with 265ft lbs and a 3400lb car? A real flat torque curve.

I have beaten a GS400 and Cobra quite handily from 100mph+ so my car ain't slow.

And I suppose you're the best driver and all the M3's and M5's and Lightning owners are not up to par compared to you....dude get real. Your CLS is not, I repeat, is not a fucking rocket. A dumb ass driver in a SMG M3 with bad launch, chirp, etc. will catch you be middle of 2nd. You've never driven one I assume or I think you'd recant your statement. Go drive an M3 and/or M5 and you'll know. BTW, sorry to break it to you, a stock M5 will out handle your heaviliy moddified CLS susension ALL DAY LONG and won't even chirp its tires on heavy turns.

 

I mean really, how much is there to putting your foot to the ffloor and shifting at redline. Not much really. I have had my car on the track overy 50 times (roadcourses) so I kind of know what I am doing. Not lightening fast but good enough that they asked me to instruct.

 

I runs 13.3's consistently when broken in I've been researching this car have drove, hung out with and basically done everything but get mine from BMW yet . Even if the M3 ran a 14.0 it's still gonna tear ass on a CLS. I'm just being the voice or reason in here.
