Fawk, collision put in wrong spring

:o
when they replaced the strut on the front passenger side it came w/ a new stock spring, so they installed it not knowing that the spring they took out was an eibach, threw the eibach spring away..

i get a call today from the collison today that my car is finally ready, been almost 2 months, so i'm all excited to get my car and i pull in and notice that the front seems a lil high, looked soo fucked up
guy ordered a new eibach pro-kit and we'll go from there, i dunno how the fuck they aligned the car with 2 diff. springs

dont you guys think they should change both of the front springs? cause he said they are only gonna change the passenger side, then the drivers side would be settled and the new spring on the other side...does it make that bif of a difference??

I would change both front springs. I would treat it just like tires. After all, you wouldn't just get one new tire. You would get at least two for a balance.

You probably need a qualified metallurgist to answer this one. Properly designed springs should not fatigue unless severely abused. I mean, thats the whole design theory behind a spring, if you think about it.

That's bullshit.

It's like having a taller tire on the right side and having them say... Well... Do some burnouts and wear down that tire so they'll be the same size.

I'd bitch.

I had a one side collision and they only replaced that tire on the side that was hit. ALso the same for the suspension, so the car still likes to float in that direction at times.

I changed all the tires soon after this, and it still goes a little to that side, not as bad though..

You might want to check with Eibach about this.

Some vendors will provide a “set” of "matched" left and right springs. I don’t know about Eibach.

Eibach makes springs of the highest quality -- and do provide to lots of motorsports teams -- so, you are probably going to have very little spring sag. However, it couldn't hurt to call them…

You will then know everything you need to know about what they should replace.

BTW, you wonder about people doing body work that don't notice the "details" - hey?

This is probably where those "car will never be the same" stories come from.

It should be fine if the spring thing gets sorted out. Cars should be able to be repaired. A small mistake like that though, if you didn't notice would definitely cause the car to "never drive the same". I've never believed that to be true if the car was properly repaired but with a big job there are lots of opportunities for errors which could cause the car to be funky.

Aren't the springs either a different color?....I would think they would have noticed that the car was 1.5" lower on one side beforer they aligned it.
