Extended Warranty

I've had my CL-S for 9 months and have nearly 21,000 miles on my car. I'm seriously thinking about that extended warranty.

Any comments on where to buy from, how early to buy, whether to buy or not, how much [coverage] to buy? Has anyone else [re]considered?

I am very risk-adverse and have plenty of money for extra coverage, good insurance, no-risk, no headache, no stress, no worries, no problems. I'm too old to worry about this sh*t.

Ken, nothing concrete to give you but I remember some links at edmunds.com.
Come to think of it we bought a policy from Ryan Insurance for our Accord and never had any problems with it.

i'm not as bad as ken, but since May i have 16,700 miles. i'd definetely get the x-warranty since i'm keeping this car for a while. i wont be buying a new car until well after i've graduated so i need to have some sort of piece of mind.

what i'd do is take that money and put it in a high yeild cd (no, not n'stync or backside boys)...like a 4 year cd ('cuz you won't need the extended warranty until after that). then you have more than enough (c'mon, it's a honda) after 4 years just in case the car does have something happen, and if not, you still have your money. and even if your car has something bad a month after a regular extended warranty runs out, you would still have coverage per se this way.

I trust the Honda/Acura history of quality, but these cars will be VERY expensive when it comes time for a major repair.
I am going with the extended 100K warranty before my car turns one year old in June.

I would stay away from anything but a certified “Acura Care” plan.
Any other company can fold overnight and you are out your money.
Anyone remember the “Rusty Jones” lifetime plan?

A single major problem with the Transmission, VSA system or electronics could easily cost more then the price of the entire extended warranty.
