I'll definitely look into these if they really do prolong the life of the motor mounts. Not looking for any performance benefits, just don't want to get screwed at the dealer when my mounts crap out. I still have about 9 months left on my extended warranty, so I'm not sure if I'll buy these atm. Not to mention since I'm a car noob, these things are pretty foreign to me

Well I actually just had the front and passenger side mounts replaced a couple weeks ago. Basically I paid over $3000 for an extended warranty that I'm JUST NOW digging into.

I mean, it's JUST the front mount that's the most problematic, right? Or is it all of them?

Also, how do these get installed? I mean, are they like an inbetween between the motor mounts and the engine? If I could get as much info on this as possible...

Alright, just bought mine.

Another question, since my front and passenger side mounts were bad, is there a possibility I might soon need to have the other mounts replaced? Or would you think it's all good now since I got the front one taken care of?

Well yeah I mean it sounds like the other mounts only go bad after the front one does. So does that mean the rear mount will go bad after the front one goes bad again?

Usually. If your side mount is bad though, thats a good indicator that the rear mount is shot as well.

Alright, tried to install it just now.

I gotta ask, howtf did you guys get the bolts from the passenger side motor mount off? I swear that shit must be torqued to like 200 pounds... Assuming you guys used hand tools and nothing pneumatic or anything.

I just used a breaker bar and alot of force. One of them was really hard to get off tho.

And do you just tighten them back on with the breaker bar, too? Anyone know roughly what torque the bolts need to be at? I'm just curious since these are on real damn tight. I couldn't find anything in my owner's manual, maybe that they were around the 33 lbs/ft range... which this definitely doesn't feel like 33 lbs/ft...

I dont remember TQ numbers off the top of my head, but when I first did that mount the bolts were on ridiculously tight. I ended up snapping one of the bolts. They were definitely overtightened by someone prior to my ownership. So be careful loosening them.

try the crank bolt, only suppose to be like 150 ft lbs or so, but after multiple heat cycles, and add a little bit of corrosion in there also, it becomes hard to get loose (a 3/4" impact sometimes has trouble with it)

but more then likely it was the same thing for you though, that little bit of heat, along with some corrosion tossed into the mix also

Corrosion will definitely make bolts seem a lot tighter than they are lol. I have had to take a sawzall to some rusted out bolts to get them off. Cut the heads off and take out the stud by hand. Thats what happens when you buy a used car that was up north for years.

even just one winter on the east coast can do that to a car

and even florida can do the same thing to a car, not so severe though, especially if you live closer to the ocean (driving on the beach itself, will do the same thing as those winters too, cause you are putting all that salt directly onto the car)

181ft lbs on the crank bolt. Pull the fuel pump fuse and do the cranking meathod. Works everytime

Yeah the spray from the ocean brings a lot of salt. I live exactly 11 miles from the ocean. I try to keep my CL in the garage as much as possible but we have 4 cars and a 1 car garage so it doesnt always work out.

The two mounting bolts for the side engine mount bracket are 33lbf-ft.
The three 14mm bolts on top of the shock damper are 37lbf-ft.
The two bolts that secure the front top strut bar to the top of the shock damper are 12lbf-ft. I believe they increase to 13mm from 12mm when using the nuts supplied by Ingalls.

Alright so now I'm debating whether I'll try to loan out an impact wrench, or just buy a breaker bar and try to take the bolts off that way. Which method would be less likely to snap these bolts? I'm positive when the dealer put in my motor mounts they used an impact wrench to torque them in.

first of all do you have an air compressor to support that impact...

....durrr is that how they work?

They also let you rent out compressors to go with it. Or they might let me rent an electric-powered impact wrench. I'll have to ask them.

Alright, talked to a guy I work with. He took a look at it and said I should have no problem doing it with a breaker bar. If any of the bolts break (he said he "could tell they most likely wouldn't") that I could just bring it in and he'll drill it out and re-tap the mount bracket for me. Luckily for me my workplace has a "vehicle fitting" department. He said he's done some mechanic work on his car there before.

However he wasn't sure if the engine would be able to support itself on the other mounts. I mean, you have to remove those two bolts that hold the mount in place, and he said there's a chance the whole engine could lean toward the passenger side. Have any of you had to support the engine or anything when you installed yours?

with GOOD motor mounts, my engine will fully support itself, when i pull off that mount (to the point that i can thread the bolts in and out by hand), now i would not drive like that, cause the motor has even less torque resisting control

The passenger side mount is not a weight bearing mount.
