The 8500 is very good. As you said, the valentine is better. I wouldn't mess with the other Escorts, my dad has a 7500 (2nd best escort), it is OK but the Ka range is poor. He is thinking of getting a V1 to replace it.

Don't believe everything you read on the web. Go with a trusted source... not just some annoumous dot-com that claims it's done tests. Becareful.

That site is BS. Also, it used an older version of the V1. I have an independent test that was released a month ago using scientific sensitivity tests, not BS straight line or "around the hill" range tests. V1 beat all others, Bel was 2nd and 8500 3rd.

It is in MS Word. I shouldn't distribute it.

Escort radar detectors are ok. V1 is better. But if you can get one at 70% off, might as well.

Ok let me tell you the whole story, I have an 8500, i dont run into cops often, in our town they have those automatic machines, those it catches nicely, it catches cops sometimes in enough times, BUT THIS ONE TIME i was doing a fly by down the main road going 80-90 and the cop pulled me over saying i was going 61 nad he clocked me (i hid the radar) anyways the thing i found weird was that speed was 20 miles lower than my lowest speed, however i accelerated not to long before he did that, so it might have been during there, but the cop said that he felt me go buy him, he was in a parking lot on the side of the road talking to another cop (they both pulled me over) I was 90 percent certain he didnt get a lock, but he told me to get out of the car and I was like fine and hes like whats that smell, im like brakes. So i dont think he had a radar on, but maybe he did, who knows.

I have the escort 8500 and I like everything about it. For the money, it's the best value. If I had more money to spend, I would've gotten the V1. If i was able to get 70% off, I would get the V1.

I had a 8500, its a very good detector. I wound up returning it and getting a V1.

If you get anywhere near that % off, definitely go for the escort 8500!
