Do you think I can do this???

I just bought the Comptech Sways and Neuspeed Strut bar. How hard are they to install? I put in the CAI, a Basslink, rear deck speakers, and custom foglights myself...so I'm not totally useless. I enjoy DIY stuff but don't wanna screw up a suspension install. Anyone have equivalent experience and opinions? Thanks!

okay...stupid question...most installs for struts say to torque to such-and-such a point. With regular do-it-yourself tools..how do you know when you've torqed them enough? I wouldn't mind getting a STB but I don't want to pay for something like that to be installed since the bolts are so easy to get to!

Just hit up ur local auto parts store and ask to borrow their Torque Bar. Sure they might want you to maybe put down a down payment just in case. But u just return it and get ur money back. Or if worse case, purchase one, use it then return it, IN MINT CONDITION .

Honestly, go buy a torque wrench. I got mine for like 30 bucks. And have used it ALOT. Comes in handy with many installs.

oh and taking of the lug nuts are easy as hell with the torque wrench.

I got a 1/2 inch drive Craftsman Torque Wrench for about 60-bucks and it was well worth the cost.
If you have aftermarket RIMS you really should get one and check the lugs every other week or so.

There are plenty of other uses around the house that it will come in handy.

the rear is easy. you dont even need to jack the car up unless you are a pretty big guy. just make sure to use wd-40 and remove the nuts off the endlink first then the bolts off the bushings

front will require jack and jack stands. it will be a lot easier for the install if you remove the wheels. same procedure as the rear remove the endlink first then the bushings. make sure to use some wd-40. it will also make the instal easier if you remove the cats heatshield because it gets in the way.

REMEMBER ENDLINK NUTS FIRST THEN BOLTS FROM BUSHINGS FOR REMOVAL

AND FOR INSTALL BUSHING BOLTS FIRST THEN ENDLINK NUTS!

strut bar is easy.

is it brand new or used?

if its used you should be able to do it yourself. just remove 2 nuts from each strut mount and put it in place and install the nuts

if you have a new one then it will take 2 people. dont try to raise one side of the car because that does not work!!!!

put it in on one side and dont tighten the nuts all the way make sure it has could jiggle around. then pull the bar towards you were the bar bends(make sure to get a good grip) then have someone on the otherside push where the bar bends to get it in the bolts. they are off by a half inch but with you pulling the bar back and the other person pushing it in you should be able to get it in with a few tries. if all else fails then switch positions and if it fails then try it from the other side.

AND REMEMBER THE MOST IMPORTANT THING

WHEN YOU JACK THE CAR UP MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE E-BRAKE ON AND YOU HAVE STOPPERS TO MAKE SURE THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE BACK AND FORTH!!!!!
