Do I have a problem???

Yesterday I was taking off my front 2 tires to switch them. As I was getting ready to tighten the lug nuts, the tire turned with me. Now if I'm not mistaken, the tire should be in a lock position, meaning it can't turn, right? I am not talking about left or right but turning as in when the wheel is in motion. The engine was off and the key was out of the ignition. Does it happen to you guys too or is there something wrong with mine? I know that my dad's 90 camry and my mom's 90 accord front wheels lock up.

I need to know.

Yes, it is the Differential. The transmission is not moving because it is in park but if you notice... the other wheel will be spinning in the opposite direction...

So is it safe to assume that it is normal then?

yeah it's normal....

if you had a locking differential both of the front wheels would turn in the same direction.

uh... why are you trying to tighten the lugs when the car is in the air?

I usually try to tighten it a little first before I lower the car to the ground. I do this first because I don't want the whole weight of the car on a tire that is not tighten at all. Then I really tighten it once the tire is on the ground.

BTW, how do you think the dealer do it? The car is always up on a lift so it's the same thing I'm doing. Except they have an air gun and I don't.
