Dealers know everything!

I drop my car at the dealer to have the VSA sensors in the steering column replaced. I tell the service writer that while it there to check the heating element in the drivers seat back because it does not get warm like the bottom. He says only the bottom is heated and I tell him it is the passenger seat back that is not heated. He stops a mechanic walking by and asks him. The mechanic says no heat in driver seat back. I tell the mechanic that it is the passenger seat back that has no heat. Mechanic says I will have to find out about that. The parts guy finally looks it up and says they do not have the element/pad in stock. I tell the service writer if they make parts for it, it must be heated. He says they will check to see why it is not working. I really hate having to tell people how to do their job!

I had the same thing happen. I told them that my seat back heat up and they told me that it was just the bottoms that heat up. I checked with everyone in the forum and they all said that their seat backs were heated. Plus the loaner they gave me heated up, so i went back to them and told them and they still disagreed until i proved them wrong. They finally fixed it by replacing the heat coil in the drivers seat. what a pain in the ass though, huh? I feel your pain. They think they know everything!

How did you know the vsa sensors in the steering column were bad ? That's probably hard to pinpoint (or test !)

if i worked on acura's all the time, i would know them front and back. I take pride in my job, and give it 110% everyday. Some people just go to work to survive. there unhappy. I love my job. If i was an acura mechanic, i would read service manuals, and everything else that has to do with acura and take pride in my work. Maybe that's just my union way of thinking.

Are you saying that I am lieing? I've seen at least dozen of posts here and on acura-tl web site of people saying that their driver's seat back stoped heating. Bottom line -- its not uncommon for those things to fail.... I am not too cocerned about this, transmission worries me more....

It depends on a dealer, my dealer (Sussman Acura, Maple Shade, NJ ) is really cool, they knew right away that it is a problem and ordered new heating element for a back of my seat.
