DC Sports New and Improved Headers

DC Sports realized that the 2 bolt design had its flaws so they re-designed the header and are now producign 3 bolt designs. The new part # is HHC5528. These were just built last week. Build date is 5/14/07. I would not recommend buying anything earlier than that build date otherwise you may be getting the 2 bolt design which had some issues with exhaust leaks. This design will eliminate that issue. These headers are ceramic coated and will help keep the heat inside the header rather than the engine bay. I took a few pics.

We will be getting more of these in stock. I have 2 sets but they were pre sold a while back.

It looks like they got the kink in the rear header to fit 6 spds. Am I seeing that right? If so, then that's a good move by DC. More options for the MT guys.

these would be perfect if it would fit a six speed and if it would be carb exempt . That would be a fraction of the price of the comptechs

DC didn't release them as fitting the 6 speed M/T. I don't believe the kink/bend is large enough so it doesn't indicate to me that it would fit the M/T and DC doesn't market is as fitting the M/T.

It is pending CARB status.

Maybe we would need somebody to try it out to see if it does fit the M/T just in case

When they are CARB approved would they go up in cost?

Will not fit. The bend needs to be more extreme on the header.

What is pending CARB status? The M/T version or the design you have pictured?

IMO, if they aren't producing a 6-Speed version they are retarded. Why alienate a portion of your potential customer base by using a "faulty" design?

Do you guys think it would be worth the extra money to buy these over the XS Headers??? They cost more than double so if they do a better job then i would think that these would be a better buy than the XS headers but if they dyno the same or very close then XS is the way to go

Thats what I was thinking but since they I have a 6 speed its not an option for me. I rather go with something that others have had on there cars for awhile though.

As a company DC Sports is far superior to whatever company (SSAutochrome?) makes the XS power headers. However, very few problems have been reported with them.

I think it's quite foolish of DC Sports to not offer a universal product available to all cars. Makes me question their R&D for this product.

No I don't think DC is going to raise the price for that reason. They are already in the process of getting CARB approval.

I have no idea why they didn't develop it for the M/T, maybe the same reason Comptech didn't initially just make one header too. What is that reason? I have no idea.

Wasn't the reason comptech didn't originally make a 6spd header because there weren't any v6 6speeds. They only started them in 2003.

Being as dc redesigned the headers they should have made a 6spd but what ever you can only persuade a company you cant force them.

If the primaries are the same as the 2 bolt flange (which they appear similar) they wont fit. I tested a pair of 2 bolt on my swap.

Comptech didn't initially make just one header because their design was released prior to the introduction of the 2003 CL-S 6-speed. Once the new design from Acura was released Comptech adjusted their product.

I bought DC's before XS and the rear header was a good 4" off from the downpipe, they didnt fit at all.

The XS's bolted right up with no alignment issues. I know I purchased the right headers from DC becuase it said (AV6-Acura CL/TL Header) on the box and materials list. 2 other guys down here in Texas have noted the same problems. Also, the inside of the piping is VERY rough as mentioned earlier in the thread.

Actually where the collectors merge it's pretty smooth. In fact it is smoother than the majority of headers I have seen.

I don't know what you bought but the only issue anybody else had was a slight leak b/c DC did a 2 bolt design. There have been others sold since then and these guys haven't had a problem. I am about to send these 2 sets of 3 bolts I have here out to the customers. I'll let everyone know what they say.

^ Probably right. Probably was a bad installation, flopped f/r. But on the production end of things, why would DC have every thought 2 bolts would be as good as 3? At least they fixed it now, but still, how does that happen???

I'm pretty curious to see how they are with the two improved sets being sent out. Definitely keep us updated.

Makes perfect sense, except for the fact that we tried it on my car, Funkeetown's car, and Magister's car all with the same results. Maybe I had a fluke...?

Are those bolts heat treated? They look a little cheesy.
