Clutch Alignment Tool

Just as I finished installing my clutch and pressure plate, I realized I did it without the clutch alignment tool. Went to the box and saw that I didn't get one. So I went on the acuraautomotiveparts.org site and saw they didnt have one listed.

Anyone know where I can buy one online? Anyone have a spare one I could buy off of? I can't believe I almost threw the tranny on without doing this properly.

I'll be driving to my local autozone, but I highly doubt they'll have one to sell seperate from the clutch. Worth a try though...

Maybe you could buy a kit use it, but keep the tool really clean, and then take it back...lol Thats what I would do.

Autozone should have one. Just measure the input shaft diameter on your gearbox.

Just went, they said it was a dealer item only. They were going to take one out of the clutch kit for me, but they dont carry the clutch at all.

For those of you that will be changing your own clutch, I finally found the tool. Above is the link to where you can buy it. It's only $10 shipped.

You can also make one out of a wooden dowel. For the RX7 I used a piece of broomhandle...fit well enough to align the clutch.

I looked around the garage, but no luck. Although, I never thought about using our broom. Oh wells, tool should get here in time for the weekend I hope. It's not like this car is going anywhere soon. I just have to make sure I finish everything before the All Cali meet on the 30th of June.

Btw, I forgot to mention, I found a 6 puck clutch in my tranny. I was actually surprised I had one. Aidan told me he was going to get me an aftermarket clutch, but figured I was scammed after months of my car sitting at his shop for the swap. Only lasted 1 month though, so that's not good, either that, or it was already in the tranny when I bought it off the guy from FL.

I made my own from a dowel. All you need to do is keep it centered long enough to start tightening the pressure plate bolts.

my helms specifies using a "pressure plate compressor" (07aae-p8ea000), "clutch alignment shaft" (07aaf-p8ea000), and "pressure plate compressor adaptor" (07aak-p8ea000) to align and pre-load the pressure plate when reinstalling the clutch (see page 12-12).

it sounds like other folks have made it work without these parts (ie, dowels, etc.), but I know my car was undrivable from the dealer when the tech failed to follow this procedure when changing my clutch.

no one has mentioned it yet, so Im not sure how important it is, but I thought I'd point it out just in case.

the service writer at the dealer also mentioned that the only other acura (at the time this was done) with this issue was the nsx, so they didn't even think to look for it on the cl-s.
