Question Custom Install of OEM Fogs in 03 CLS

I really miss the look of the fog lights (had an 01 CLS before), and want to install the OEM fogs in my 03. Has anyone else done this?

I have checked to see if they fit, and there is no physical problem. I am not sure if the wiring harness is there, but I don't see a big problem in tapping into headlight wiring.

I have installed the custom mesh grille from my 01, and without the fogs it looks odd. If I had the fogs it would balance the aluminum mesh across the bottom.

I guess an alternative is painting my mesh black... but I am concerned that the paint will just flake off the aluminum.

I see this as strictly asthetics... the fogs (road lamps) provide no useful addition to the HID lights.

Any recommendations?

Pics and comments are always welcome if you decide to go ahead and do it. I'm still considering it myself.

The instructions posted in the FAQs is pretty comprehensive... it does not look difficult at all. I have parts on order and will let you know how it goes.

Ona Silver car... yes they definately look great. I am a bit worried about a darker color though (blue) as the headlights are a bit smoked. My fear is that the shiny clear OEM fogs might look out of place.

Has anuone installed the fogs with a darker color?

I can't find the picture, but there was this guy with a black 03 CLS who installed fog housings with round bulbs almost like the audi but smaller, and filled the remaining space with black mesh. Looked sweet....i'd be up for doing something like that.
