True but i thought the ECU was already built. Wouldn't one need to know those details before construction of an electronic device? I'm not saying this guy doesn't know what he's doing but it doesn't give me much confidence in his product knowledge if he's posting on forums asking technical questions. I hope i'm wrong

You can build it without knowing the number of teeth on the crank trigger. The software is what will be dependant on knowing. The high speed counter is dumb and will work counting pulse but to determine what to do with these counts is in the software.

I'll also see what I can find out but for some reason I remember seeing 12x but I could be wrong. I'll dig on this when I get home.

exactly....on the IS300...I heard they stall..
The reason being that the Lexus crank has like 2 teeth missing and that their ECU knows this and overrides it....when the new ECU is hooked on....it sees it...doesnt know what it is...and stalls...

I wonder is the missing teeth are for a zero reference?? This is not uncommon in high speed industrial applications to use an interuption of the pulse inputs to act as a zero trigger.

Maybe...all i know is the Lex ecu runs on analog signals..and it is easier to fool, but digital signals read everything.

I wasn't able to track it down in the manual but it appears Nashua was... What pages was that??

Anyway, people were refering to the crank trigger as the the CPK, or crank position sensors which is what reads the pulses from the gear teeth. Just trying to isolate the area...

More like he is trying to use the Internet to gain the information more easily than tearing apart a car.
