crank pulley problem

I just talked to my mechanic, he says he installed the crank pulley but my power steering is making a lot of noise. Has anyone else had this problem with a underdrive pulley? Or is it just my freakin luck

Are the belts too tight/too loose?

The belts are new, I guess its because its underdrive. Should I just buy the aem accessory kit? If I get a smaller power steering pulley it will fix all of this. What do you guys think?

I have a very important question, If i get the unorthodox racing power steering pulley is it smaller or bigger in diameter than a stock unit? I need a small one and that will take care of the noise. Anyone?

Is the noise coming from the belt or the pump? Did you use a shorter belt? Both belts are shorter than the stock ones. I doubt the "racing" pulley is smaller. Smaller=faster which is overdrive.

The noise is from the pump not the belt. They used a shorter belt yes because the crank pulley is smaller. I checked my alternator and its fine, plus my current is okay its at 14.27volts. The power steering just makes a loud noise when i turn the wheel. Its not as loud when i'm driving and turning, but it still makes noise. I would just like to know if the UR power steering pulley is smaller in diameter than the stock unit. If it is then i'll get that, if not i'll have to take this pulley off and get a stock diameter crank pulley from UR.

you would need a bigger PS pulley to do what you want not smaller...and no the UR alt and PS are not smaller...all of the undrive is achieved by the crank pulley...

Not a dumb question at all, it's amazing how many people actually miss what's right in front of them..

This is the first I've ever read of this type of problem with the UR Crank pulley.. And there are numerous members running JUST the crank pulley and the OEM other pullies.

I checked the fluid its fine, I checked the tension its fine, I dont understand why its making this noise. Maybe my power steering pump was bad to begin with and this just made it worse I dunno. The reason why I say I need a smaller power steering pulley is because things will go back to stock if the crank pulley and power steering pulley have the same decrease in diameter. Am I the only one that has this problem?

What I did notice is that when i checked the fluid there are a lot of small bubbles in the power steering reservoir. It kinda looks like it was whipped, hard to believe. I dunno

...no it will not ...a smaller PS pulley would undrive it more... you'd need a larger ps pulley to achieve what you're after...and yes nobody i know of has this problem with the crank pulley and as ive mentioned i have this same pulley...try loosening the belt

Comments like that are funny because you dont even know what the other product really is. I did a side by side comparison with the UR and its the same exact thing. They both are the same size, almost the same weight and they are underdrive. My whole point in all this is the power steering pump is turning less rotations and the crank is turning more hence the underdrive. But the noise is obviously caused by something, i'm thinking the belt is too tight but then again i'm riding on 19's so i'm not sure if that has something to do with it.

Oh and off topic but my transmission is officially gone. Tonight coming back from school the VSA, check engine and traction light came on and stayed on. A few days ago my third gear was slipping, and now it slips all the time. Time to call Acura and give them a piece of my mind. Do you guys think i'll get heat from them if i take it in with the headers and crank pulley installed?

most dealer do flame you if you have engine mods. if you have a small crank pulley then you will need a bigger PS pulley to have the same rotation as the stock. Usually the alt. will die having a wrong set of pullies.

So i'm basically forced to buy the stock diameter UR pulley... But headers and a crank pulley shouldnt be a good enough cause for the dealer to not replace the transmission right?

I just ordered the UR stock diameter crank pulley. I'm gonna take my car into the dealer as is with the power steering noise, I need this transmission fixed. Oh by the way ACURA sucks with their transmissions, if they are reading this, YOU GUYS SUCK! lol
