Is Comptech drop enough on 18" SSR Comp's with 225/45 18's?

I am about to upgrade to 18" wheels. I understand with a lower profile tire like these (225/45/18 recommended size by tire rack for a plus one upgrade) my fender gap is going to increase (or at least appear bigger). Is this true? I don't want the old 4x4 look again!

The fender gap with an 18 inch wheel should actually appear smaller. The outside of the rim will be 1/2 inch closer to the fender. If you go to the Tire Rack site and browse tires you can click on "specs" and get the actual diameter of different size tires. Stock is 25.5 I believe.

I think I will but against advice of tire rack. They say their is no tire in 40 series with the proper load rating and I will get bubbles in the tires from being overloaded. I don't know how true this is. What do you guys think of Racing Hart rims? I don't know much about them.

I just put some H&R Accord V6 Springs and cut 1-coil in the front only. I think the drop is perfect. It's 1 finger in the back and 1.5 fingers up front... perfect IMO.

It will rub when you go over sizeable bumps and dips in the road. I had my rims on Comptechs with that tire size and it rubbed. Now beofre u denounce my account of this situation remember I live in a city where the roads are always being driven on an there are a lot of dips and potholes Your best bet is to go with the 40 series which will actually make the tire smaller than stock, but will keep you from rubbing.

I am taking your advice and going with the 40 series. I am hoping I won't have any problems with the load rating issue. Going with Toyo's.
