depending on the driver, but i would put money on the maxima

i've beaten my buddys cls with my wifes maxima.
but every car is different
before my upgrades on the 2001 cls i would beat the wifes cars.
now i smoke it.

Pretty much a drivers race. If both drivers are equal the Maxima will take the lead until about 60 when the CL-S will pass.

I happen to have both cars in the house. My mother has an 02 maxima SE auto. The CLS feels faster at high RPM's than the maxima. The maxima pulls hard from 3000-5000 rpm's. My car is also not stock so its not really a fair comparison.

Facts. Published times in the major car mags ALL show the CLS faster in the 0-60 an 1/4 with comparable automatics. Probably the major reason is: the CLS auto is a 5speed, the max is 4speed.
Both engines/cars have strong points over the other due to gearing, torque curve and HP. Obviously, either car doesn't make 260HP or 255HP all thru the power range.SUBJECTIVE Just got back my 01 CLS with a new trans. Acura (Hertz) put me up in a 03 Max SE with auto. Had 2.5K on the odo. I like the car but it needs a 5speed auto to really use the great engine it has. It felt held back by the trans. If I had to pick either one for a drag race, off the line, my life depended on it: the CLS. I think the max is faster at some speeds from a roll initially until the CLS gets into its power. The Max can also get caught between gears and seemed handicapped b/c it couldn't kick down a gear. The CLS usually has a lower gear.
I really like the max so this is my honest opinion ( I had a 98 max before my CLS). I'm looking forward to both the new TL and the new maxima that comes out March 03. I'll buy the faster of the two, just like I bought the CLS over the max.

Is Ditka driving the CL-S....cause then I pick the CL-S

I would put my money on a 2k2 Maxima from a stop and my money on the CL-S from a roll, assuming everything equal.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but what mags had both the Maxima's times and the CLS's times in auto form. I've only seen 1 comparison and the Maxima was like .1 or .2 faster in AUTO only. It really doesn't matter when it's this close, it's whoever gets the jump first. One things for sure, I wouldn't bet my life on this race as it can go either way.
