Honda/Acura car rentals?????
Honda/Acura car rentals?????
My boss and I travel a lot for work. We have rented the alero, lesabre, monte carlo, a cadillac once, and a Toyota Camry, and a mazda something-or-other.
We NEVER see Honda or Acura products offered. Does anyone know why this is? Does H/A have some kind of non rental policy? I would think that to them, a car sold is a car sold.
I'm talking your basic Hertz/Avis/National/Budget stuff here, not the exotic rentals here and there that charge you an arm and a leg.
All the more remarkable, The Honda Accord vs Ford Taurus trade the title of "the most sold car" almost every year, and I know for a fact, there is a S***load of rental taurus's out there...interesting question. Thanks.

Honda/Acura does not do what is called fleet sales. Or selling mass quantities of their cars to hertz, enterprise etc etc etc.
Not doing this actually shows the real power of honda sales. Pretty much every Honda/Acura on the road is owned by a real person and not a company. Toyota and Ford get their high sales numbers because they do the fleet sales. I think its great the only way to beat honda sales is by having to sell mass amounts of cars to rental companies. It really does say a lot for the product. If there were no fleet sales then honda would always be the number 1 selling car, or pretty damn close to it. I mean without fleet where would ford be?
Now, you can occasional find an accord or what not for rental, but that is cause the company privately bought the car from a dealership for use in the inventory.

Hertz does carry Accords and Civics; they're just not available in certain geographic locations (mainly due to insurance costs).

Yes but they are bought privately from dealerships in those regions. Honda does not do fleet sales. I took a few in on trade once or twice from hertz. I used to sell Hondas, trust me. If im in any way wrong ill rescind, but im not

I asked my dad about this(which works for Honda of America Engine factory). The reason why Honda doesn't do rentals(like Ford does with Hertz) is because it kills the resale value. if you remember about 4-5 years back when the Tarsus and Accord was battleing for #1 car sold in america title. Ford kind of did something cheap(but it screwed them on their resale). the Accord was either hanging with them or a little ahead so they called up Hertz and cut them one hell of a deal and dumped a bunch of cars so Honda got screwed out of the title
