Question CL-S or TL-S? (2nd Gen)

Just wondering how many of you 2nd gen CL owners out there wish they had bought TL instead of CL or vice versa???

Lets hear it guys.

I personally love the 2nd Gen TL myself but leaned over toward CL because I always loved 2 doors but really because two of my close friends already own TL-S and TL-P.

Which one looks nicer w/ kit, wheels, drop etc.??? In your opinion.

I was originally gonna get a ABP TL-S, but after reading about the auto tranny problems I opted for a NBP 6spd CL-S. Couldn't be happier w/ my decision. (I think GM is right though about car talk)

if the TL came in 6-speed at that time, i'd might have gotten that. but now i'm glad i choose a coupe so if i had to do it again, i'd choose the CL hands down

i think the TL looks like a floating boat with their oem lip kit. tl looks okay, it's not as sport looking as the cl-s. so get the cls 6mt

man, the tL has 4 doors, so that probably means they don't have that automatic seat slider jawn. CL all the way ! 6speed of course.

I like both equally, but got the TL-S because I wanted the room and convience of 4drs. I wish I could have my current TL-S and an 03 6spd CL-S. It would be great to have both.

Well, I came from a 4 door Accord, and it was my first car. I always wanted a coupe, so I bought teh CL-S. I wish I had shopped around a little more for a 6speed, but fuck it.

Depends what you need, I guess. But I can't imagine having a fast car with an auto tranny! I know a guy that has a C5 Vette with an automatic. I think he should have the god-damned car taken away just for that!

yeah it really depends what you're looking for in a car.

i quickly chose the CL-S6 because it was sportier, coupe, and manual. means no auto tranny problem (i know not every tranny is defected), plus i always wanted a manual. well, i'm an 18 year old so i don't need the extra two doors.

tl if you want the 4 doors, just that you need to be warned there is an auto tranny problem. research on that.

i think that the TL would be too big for me right now so i went with the CL because it was a sporty coupe, perfect for a young driver but sometimes i wish i had 4 doors but nothing too big like a TL. it i just me or does the 3rd gen Tl seem smaller than the 2nd gen, id rather get a 3rd gen TL then my CL.

Already have a family car (2004 MDX), so CL-S it is... A man needs break out of the mold on occassion. That is what my CL-S is for: 6 Speed of course, with tiny bit of BOOST.

Well I got my TL because I bought used and couldnt afford an newer then a 2000 in which there is no CL. If I could have im not sure which I would have picked. I think I would have picked whichever one I could have gotten a better deal on.

I actually like the TL more than the CL, it has a more define trunk compared to the curve trunk on CL and more room. But only if it is 02 - 03

Hmmmm. I see. Alot of different personalities and opinions in here. I like that. Alot of you leaned towards the CL for the 6 speed option. Some of you leaned towards TL for 4 doors.

CL is definitely alot less common then TL which is also why I chose mine.

Well some of you guys are telling me to go w/ CLS 6 but unfortunately, I already own a CLS (auto) wish it was a 6.

TL wasn't even an option for me. I've got an S2000 as my fair weather fun car. Have always had a bigger coupe as a daily driver. Had an Accord before the CLS, and a Legend before that. The time was right and the prices were right on the 6 speed which was what I really wanted. Oh, and it's just me an my 18 year old son in my household so no dire need for more room.

I wanted a coupe so I bought the CLS but only wanted the 6 speed option.

I'm contemplating my next car and I like Acuras but I prefer coupes. The current TL is nice but I'd get a used RL over the TL, prices are very close now between new TLs and used 05/06 RLs.

uh, what was the original question?? too bad there's no coupe decision to be made anymore with Acura.

If the TL had a 6-spd option, I would have gotten it.

Wasn't interested in 4 doors. Liked the CL a lot and then read of the tranny issues. I've had a problematic tranny in the past (SHO) so there wasn't a chance I wanted to mess around with that again. Searched around and found a really nice 6-speed and I love it. I have no need for 4 doors (last couple cars have been and I've had people in the back maybe 5 times in 4 years) but if I did I don't know if I'd look at TLs or elsewhere.

Sometimes I wish I had a 4-door (that was one of the few things I HAD to have...oops), but I like the look of the CL much more, so I don't regret it (except when I have to squeeze people into the back seat)

Eh i'm happy with my auto CL-S. Unlike all you guys, this is just a daily driver for me, and my street car is stick, so I really didn't want the annoyance of a 6spd. Now my mom who has no idea how to drive a standard can drive the car, or even move it in the driveway, and my girl can drive it. It's just more beneficial to me at this time. For me, shifting gets kind of old after a while and I love the chillness of an auto, even with as many problems as they have. It's powertrained another 50k, so I don't see what the big deal is. And its not like I don't have a standard car to drive. My high 10 second street weapon waits in storage. Oh, and no offense to the gentlemen with TL's on here, but the 2nd gen TL's are just plain bland and way to common for my taste. The CL's on the other hand look more agressive and sleek, and are much rarer.

I am very pleased with my CLS, because it is a rare car that you dont always see unlike the TL that is why I liked and went with the CLS.

I'm 20 years old, single, and just having fun. I don't need the four doors so I'll stick with coupes until I need the backseats. It's more of a pain to have more than 2 people in the car but that's rare. Also, I love the rear end of the CL-S, it's just so much more sleek and sexy than the TL-S.

I hear ya. I feel the same way when I see the auto trashing on here since I my CL-S auto. Sometimes when they all gang up on us though I feel like I want to .

If it makes you feel any better I hear that dudes that buy 6 speeds are trying to make up for their "short comings" if you knowwhatisayn.

TL was about 3K more than I wanted to spend for a car. $3K was not worth 2 extra doors

I also love my AUTO CL-S. Yea I wonder about my tranny from all the smack on here..but it goes strong every day (don't care cause still have 40,000 mi warranty on my tranny) and I don't have to burn out my clutch in traffic. Yea if I wanted a sports car that I didn't drive in the city everyday I would have gotten a 6speed (S2K Preferably). But when I want to drive in luxery and still be fast (even if I'm .3 sec slower than a 6speed so be it). Back to the original question...if you want a family sedan get the TL if you want a coupe get the CL..its all personal pref.

Just like stated before, I just turned 21, I'm single (just got out of a relationshit), and I'm still looking for "fun." And as most of you know, my family is an Acura household: 2000 TL, 2003 CLS6, 2006 RL.

Ideally, If all of these cars where mine and I lived alone, I would have the CLS6 as my 2 door sports car, I would find a cheap 2003 TL and a totaled CLS6 to swap the engine and 6 speed tranny into the TL. And the RL would be the auto cruising car.

A little of all 3 worlds.

I've always liked BACs (Big Assed Coupes): Tbirds, Toronados, Monte Carlos, etc. They are a dying breed. Since the big three make mostly junk, the CL is really the perfect car for me.

I still haven't found anything that comes close.

PS, I love my autotragic! If I'm pimpin' around (or stuck in traffic) in my big 2 door luxo-boat, I don't want to be shiftin'! Even with my blower, I know that this is no sports car.
