hey folks,
after i bought my 01 cl-s, i realized the seats dont recline

anyone know how i can fix this??

Are both seats unable to recline? How about the other functions? Do they work? Check the fuses first and see if they are blown.....if they are blown, try replacing the fuse(s). If they blow after installing them, you might have a short or bad reclining motor. I had the same problem with mine and had to replace the reclining actuator. But that involves removing the taking the seat apart, if you do it yourself, or if you take it to the stealership, it will cost you $$$$$$$ (probably 500-600 or more ) OneFlyCL had the same problem and he fixed it....here is the link that he gave to another CL member having the same problem: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=183292 Good luck.....

the problem is in both of my seats...all the other functions work except the recliner.

i think thats a pretty common problem with the car. ive met a few people whose seats wont recline..mine wont either

When I bought the reclining actuator, the Acura parts guy told me the stuck reclining function is known problem and that was the reason why they had more than one of those actuators in stock...... After replacing the actuator, it was good as new

my driver side stopped recling...... I was and am still furious. I think the dealership said it was the "Arm" and quoted a little more than $400...

Yeah big $$$$. But, when I did the replacement of the actuator, I had to remove all of the leather uphostery from the back rest, removal of the lower seat, bunch of nuts and bolts and screws, wire connectors and switches, then I was able to get to the actuator, then reversing the process. After going through all of that labor, It's clear why the dealership charges that much......

My passenger seat intermittently motors back and forth when people get in the back seat. Usually it motors forward to let them in. Sometimes not. Usually it motors back after they get out. Sometimes not. Irritating, but at least the electric switches on the side of the seat still work (knock on wood!).

Just sit in the seatr and lean back real hard while pressing the recline switch. I had to use a hammer and a scewdriver on the gear's teeth once, and got tired of removing the plastic pice, so i just did that out of frustration and it worked. also do a search for recline, you'll see how common it is.

you think you can tell me where is the "gear teeth" is? Its worth trying to hammer it before I take it to a dealer.
