Chevy S-10, yeah right.

Coming back to the office after lunch I come up to a stop light with a Chevy S-10 pick-up(?). The road up ahead merges into one lane, no problem. Light goes green, and this guy in the pick-up actually tries to beat me to the merge. I normally don't race my car, but to be honest I felt insulted he would even think that he could beat me to the merge. No time to use the SS (not that I would need it), so I punched the accelerator and gave him a nice view of the CL-S badge on my trunk.

I don't want to sound elitest, but I didn't spend my hard earned cash on a CL-S just to have Chevy S-10's thinking they can take me. I would'nt challenge a NSX-I know my place in the world of horsepower. I also know not to insult guys (or east german woman) who are twice my size. I mean what next-blue haired granny's in Buick's?

Nice kill, but don't judge a book by its cover. I had an S-10 shortbed pickup with a 400 Chevy SB in it that ran 12's when I could friggin' get traction. The small blocks can be put in all S-10's with just new motor mounts. For under $5k you can buy the truck, motor, trans, and a paint job and then go out and spank most cars on the road.

hell, for $500 you could get a motorcycle (complete) and say the same thing.

point is, either way, you'd be driving a piece of shite.

But with a bike you don't get the sleeper surprise at all. And it may be a piece of shit, but there's nothing like smoking someone who thinks they have you beat hands down. Heck, Rustangs have been doing this for quite awhile.

excellent point - although you'd be suprised at who thinks they can take a bike.

everyone and their dog tried to run me when I was riding a '78 honda cm400t. same deal with my old '93 suzuki bandit 400. hell, the bandit seemed to attract beat-up '84 camaros with the 4 cylinder and the auto tranny. I raced one when I was still in college, and I wound up having to start in a higher gear at each successive stoplight in order to give the camaro guy a fighting chance. I gave up after third because of the clutch abuse the bike was suffering...

*sniff* memories...

Nope, just a 87' Buick GN. One of the guys in the local GN club bought a GNX last summer. Its FAST...

Damn, I'm not a fan of American cars at all, but I have to give respect for the Grand National...not only are those cars fast, but they are ghetto-fabulous

Speaking of cars trying to take bikes...I was witness to a lovely race last summer. Imagine this...I pull up to a left turn light and hear this interesting engine next to me...i turn to see a yellow 355 spider. Then I hear something really high pitched revving its engine behind me...ducati 996 (red). After the Ducati split both of us at the light and we entered a highway on ramp, I slowed down to change my pants while I watched the Ducati and 355 go balls to the wall until I lost sight of them. It was an etherial experience

Even the new Buick Regal GS's can smoke your ass with a few mods. And some GNX's can hit 10's, so think before you start doggin' on the Buicks.

I always liked the turbo Buicks. A buddy of mine had a regal T-type that ran 12.50s with just a 3800 stall converter and boost controller. Strangely enough, I liked the styling of it, probably for the sleeper aspect.

There is one guy in the GN club that runs 11.2's in his 87' GN and all he has are "bolt on parts"...I'm pretty sure that your pal there has more than just a hi stall & boost controller.
