Check Engine Light

Check Engine Light
Last night I was out running errands, and during a relatively quick take-off from a light, I slightly over-did my 1-2 upshift and got a bit of wheel hop/axle tramp (it was snowing/raining at the time and traction wasn't the greatest). No big deal, except that immediately following this embarrassing faux pas, my Check Engine light flashed for a few seconds. After maybe 10 flashes, it stopped. No odd behavior aside from my normal slightly lumpy idle.
Anyone else seen something like this?
In my mind, this is nothing to worry about, but I will mention it to the service guys when I go in next time.

Was it the check engine light or your VSA light? The way you're describing it it sounds more like the VSA was flashing. If that's what it was, you should be fine. If it really was the check engine light, that's odd. I haven't heard of that happening. My only guess would be that you were bouncing off of the REV limiter and the engine light flashed?

I have done the “Wheel hop” thing myself since I got my new tires.
They tend to GRIP the road quite well and are more likely to “jump” then squeal like the stocks did.
I have never seen any flashing lights when this happened though.

Rev limiter wasn't approached, as far as I could tell. Looks like it's time for me to RTFM!:o
I thought about the LSD thing too, but it doesn't make much sense to me that it would cause the Check Engine light to flash. You'd think that the Diff doing its job would be a "normal" thing.
As to the lumpy idle - I didn't notice this on the tester that I drove (a Black one with ~60 miles on the clock). I notice it more and more (I guess it's getting to me ) on the one that I drove away from the dealer in. It had 242 miles on it when I picked it up, and I'm pretty sure that it was ragged on by others before I saw it

mapman, the car I tested in had over 100 miles on it in less than 2 days. Right of the bat the sales guy floored it. I wonder if that would contribute to the idle. I mean I felt it was pretty harsh and almost sounded like it had a small knocking sound. Its sad if this is the case on all of the 6 speeds because it is a damn nice car with a great pwertrain.

I figure that - worst case, here - Honda gives me a new engine down the line somewhere. Hopefully right around 49K miles.
Guess who's taking a close look at his oil level tonight?
