I just got a cl-s yesterday & Im not sure if that is normal or not? Is it suppose to flash for like 10 seconds when starting? If not, what the hell is it??

My just started to do that too. I dont know why mine is doing it.

 

I think it just means that you're approaching a service interval. Can't remember since it's been over 16 months since I drove the CLS.

It's probably not the check engine light, it's the 'maintenance required' light.

UH.... no. CEL and MR lights are two different things. Read the manual.

 

the light your talking about is a service light. when you get a chance before starting your car press and hold down the TRIP AND RESET button at the same time. then put your key in the ON position continuing to hold down both buttons untill the maintinance light goes off. then turn your car OFF and then ON agian. this will reset your mant req light.

If your check engine light comes on, you should care--it means you have an engine problem which could be serious!!!!!!!!

 

Please go get a oil change in the dealer. I think that blinking light mean you have dirty oil!

 

Why don't people who spend so much on a car read the manual?

it is 6500 miles since it was last reset, and at 7500 since last reset it will stay on till reset.

 

I change my own oil i dont waste my money with the dealer and it did come on prior to my last oil change

hey drew-- these guys aren't correcting you to be jerks.. This is really an important point-- the "Maintence req." light doesn't mean anything is wrong with your car, while the "Check Engine" light means there is a serious problem with your car...

 

u can reset it, as long as you did your maintenace its all good.

 

the check engine light isn't only an engine problem, it means there is an electrical problem

and reset it. it starts blinking at 3750 miles since last reset (I think) and then stays on after 7500 miles.
