i didnt hook up a reader for the code, i got it directly from the cars blinking check enging light on the dash by jumping 2 terminals on the obdII plug.

Why do it at home, when you can go 5 minutes down the road and get an accurate reading?

The FAQ forum is great for stuff like this:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ighlight=codes

72=random misfire...

I don't know shit about the codes, but it could be a lot of things to throw that code including a bad coil pack....

Doing it the way you did Bens CL is FINE. I can understand why you'd want to figure it out yourself. What 72 means is 'Misfire in cyclinder #2'. Could be a bad coil pack, spark plug, falwed up piston, o-ring, so best bet now it to get in check out. OR, if it's never done this before, just unplug your battery for 30 seconds & clear the code. See if it happens again. Sometime there are 'hick-ups' in the engine & some weird will happen just once. Try that & see what happens.

that thread is where i got the idea for jumping the terminals to get the code, but i wasnt sure if the codes were the same because he said, it was for a late 90's accord thats why i came up here and asked for clarification

funny, what the car gave was ACCURATE, all that was needed was to check and verify the code,and what if the code could be considered harmfull to the engine? why in the hell would i keep driving it? i have other cars/motorcycles/trucks to drive why chance a bigger problem?

The culprit of the original poster's problem is probably just a simple bad coilpack. That's fairly common with the J32A1 and J32A2.

nope, the problem was low output from o2 sensor #2. figured it out last night.

no codes now, runs great. turns out the connector pins on the sensor were corroded, cleaned them up no code 10 min later like before.

WTF are you talking about ?? I don't see anything in this thread about carbon fiber hoods or trunks ?? You really need to start new threads when you change the subject instead of highjacking 'em

And, this thread is a year old too...
