im working out the methods right now i have about 3 feet of carbon fiber and i just got some resin today. so far i cut out a small part and layed on some broken plastic to see how it will adhear. if it works like its supposed to im gunna make my pillars in carbon fiber. its just gunna lay over the the factory part becuase i dont have the tools to pressure form it in the whole part. here is a pic of what i am using to test it out. rember the resin is still wet and by no means is it finished its just a test peice. wish me luck. if you dont know what part im talking about it where you mount after market gauges to. here is a pic of the test.

 

Good luck on the project. I can think of a couple parts I'd like to see in carbon fiber.

You are talking about your "A" Pillar?

 

I made a custom r/c wing using fiberglass, if you aren't gonna vacuum form the piece your might want to squeege the resin to get a uniform thickness, so sanding, polishing afterwards will be easier. If you want to repair broken plastic pieces from behind, you can use ABS plastic glue and a metal reinforcement screen, you just glob the ABS glue.

i got mine off of ebay. i got a yard by 2 feet for 15 bucks shipped. im waiting on a yard x 50" of blue carbon fiber to make my engine cover into blue carbon fiber. if i have enough left im going to make the batt cover to.

i gotta see how much its gunna cost me in the pillars from acura to get the price set on the whole thing so you wouldnt have to ship me out yours and wait for me to make it then ship it back. plus when you go to sell the car you can take them out and sell them on here or ebay.

 

personally, i would rather just send you mine... keep the costs down. shipping these things shouldnt be too much... like $15.

 

btw, that blue carbon fiber looks sweet.

umm you really cant diy unless you know how to clear coat. it all has to be wet sanded and cleared so its uniform and even with a nice gloss. dont worry i will be maken them and selling them in the black market.
