Car Shuddering???

I got a question for all you gearheads. My 01 Type S (56K miles) shudders when iddling in PARK, but not when stopped at a redlight or at a stop sign in DRIVE. The shuddering isn't that bad, but I'm picky about my car. I guess it could be a number of things but any ideas off the top of ya'lls heads would be really appreciated. My thoughts are that it may have something do with 1. Transmission recall service done not too long ago OR 2. my car needs a fuel injection cleaning. New belts maybe?

Do the interior lights dim?

Could need an intake air control valve adjustment/cleaning/replacement.

It is a pretty constant and soft shuddering, and no the lights don't dim. When I first start the car it doesn't ussually do it, but if I've been driving around for a few minutes and then put it in park in traffic or something then the shuddering begins. No one really notices it but me either but its quite annoying on a vehicle thats suppose to be a near luxury car.

Is it dependent on whether your air condtioner is on or not?

nope, shudders when AC is on or off. I know some cars shudder when its cold out but mine does so if its cold or hot outside.

Mine does the same thing, except it will do it in park, and it will also do it right before i come to a complete stop (its not a warped brake rotor shudder, its like an engine dipping to low in the revs type shudder). I have no clue what it is.

Bad engine mounts? Put it in neutral and see if it will still shudder.

Sounds like your motor mounts are bad. I'm on my 3rd set!

Then it's probably not the transmission; could be engine mounts, blown head gasket, air sensor, etc.

Best have a dealer do a code check and general diagnostic.

how many miles do you have? Mine used to do that also, then when I put on the OE thermoblock spacers, I cleaned out my intake manafold and EGR port with some carb cleaner - now it idles and runs good as new. I would try that because I have 85k miles and my EGR port was 100% clogged up with carbon buildup and the intake manafold was dirty also.

it does not do when you first start the car because the car is running a cold start cycle...

do you have any Accesories running (A/C, heat, radio=system)

You mentioned something with your tranny... did you get the tranny replaced?.. if they replaced your tranny, they more than likely replaced your ECU as well.

where are your RPM's sitting at idle.. (20 minutes) after you start the car?

you need to go to the dealership and find out the problem and report back.

im sure its not a big enough deal to run to the sealership...I bet the EGR port is getting clogged up and just needs a cleaning.

it might be classified as a wear and tear item...

but my guess would be as long as you have factory warranty you should be able to get any problems rectified.

anyone know offhand what dealers are charging to replace motor mounts if no longer under warranty? How hard are they to replace?

My car's shuddering too, park and in neutral. Interior lights are dimming, and idle drops below 750. I do know the CL needs a desperate oil-change...

Lights dimming doesn't sound too good, as these cars have a hell of a charging system IMO.
