i think you should find a red bulb or something (maybe those LED ones will look cool now).

but i don't think you can paint them unless you find a transparent red paint, 'cuz any regular paint would just put a coat on the glass and then it'll be like those old school large x-mas bulbs that are so dim that they look like crap.

I don't think you can paint a bulb either. plus it will make the bulb dimmer cause your covering up more light and on top of some paint will "shake off" inside your taillight (big mess) what my friend did with his ranger(it looked kinda of sweet) He had regular red taillights. bought a purple bulb and somehow either cut a diamond shape or had made a diamond shape in his taillight. so when his turn signal come on it would be a purple diamond.(I know it sounds gay but it was pretty sweet)(he sold the truck anyhow )

Why is a clear turn signal illegal? What's the theory behind that law?

I used red spray to paint my interior dome light.

I was bored and they didnt have colored bulbs that fit at any nearby autostore.

Worked fine... and been fine for months now.

You can also buy bulb dye... stains the glass.

The guys on the TL board have been painting their bulbs w/o any problems at all. They've been painting the orange bulbs that's in the clear portion of the light (turn signal) silver. The reason they've been doing silver is b/c you can kind of see the orange through the clear lense and it looks funky, so with silver it blends with the reflective "chrome" paint in the housing. Just make sure you use high temp paint, like 1500 degrees or so. Also, the bulb still blinks amber, so it's still legal, just don't go too think on the coats.....

Someone reported the paint actually stained the housing. Be warned.

I used to paint my bulbs back in the olden days of clear taillights. All you do is mist a light coat on top. Only problem I had was the red actually looked a little pink. Another option is to go to your local racer outlet and get some bulb covers. They're these little red condom looking things that slip over the bulb. Good luck.
