Brake squeak

I finally got my Rotora rotors in and installed them with Axxis pads. Car ran fine for a few miles and then I got this horrendous screach everytime I pressed the brakes (seemed to be from the left-side). So I removed everything and re-assembled with ample amounts of anti-squeak on the back-side of the pads.... the sound is still there! I can't see any blatant scratches or anything - any ideas?

did you clean the rotors before installing?
Can you see any brake fluid leaking?
Did you get any brake fluid on anything during the install?
Do the pads fit "right"?

Okay... after some trouble-shooting, I have come to the conclusion that I am an idiot!

The squeak or screech is from my rear brake indicators!!!! What is the probability that my rear brakes would touch the indicator the same day I install front rotors/pads?!?!

After two brake removal/installation... now I have to do the rear ones as well

brake squeak as if the pads are fading are normal from the axis ultimate pads, and a lot of brake dust. Me and two of my other friends have the pads on and we all squeak while on the brake but we all stop really well

Besides the BBK, what is ultimate brake set (rotors and pads) would you recommend?

The BBK-Rotora is what I have on my car with the Axxis pads they are amazingly good. I've heard really good reports on the "green stuff" pads(EBC???) as well. They apparently give of less dust then the Axxis and perform just as good.

allmotor: Glad to hear you got to the root cause. If you're going to do the rears Rotora now does a slotted rear rotor. I put that on with the Axxis as well.

i can't see how your rear brakes could be worn out.

my car has 61K on the original rear brakes and they still have a lot of life left.

Just a "thumbs up" for the EBC Greenstuff pads.... with Comptech cross-drilled rotors, installed by Jens at PAA, never a hint of squeal - ever.....stopping power is much increased
and dust is insignificant compared to stock linings....Best of luck!

Your rotors will squeak a little when coming to a complete stop b/c the Axxis Ultimate brake pad is part Kevlar and part Ceramic. Honda uses only ceramic pads so the add materials int he Axxis pads cause the slight squeaking you will here. Also, Axxis Ultimates will shed a decent amount of dust whereas EBC pads shed less dust. IMO, though, the bite of the Axxis Ultimate pads on the rotor is well worth it. The car brakes ten times better with the ROTORA rotors and Axxis pads.

The sound I hear is not a squeak... its a very loud screech. I originally could not isolate the sound as I automatically assumed it was coming from the new install. Now, after sticking my head out and driving etc., it appears to come from the rear. I checked my pads on the back (just through the wheel) and they are pretty worn. I'll replace them and see what hapens. The screeching is very loud and annoying!

allmotor, it very well could be the rear brake indicator. just get some axxis pads for the rear and youll be fine. also, unless you want the cosmetics of the rear to match the front, i would recommend you keep the rear rotors stock! the rear rotors are nearly impossible to destroy!
on the plus side, it is ridiculously easy to change the rear pads!

I think endless pads with slotted/drilled rotors and stainless cables. This was my setup before my current brake system. I think the money though spen ton the first system was a waste and should have been saved to my ultimate purchase. These cars are severely under braked and if you add more power you need more brakin gpower.

So, I have broken in all the brakes now and decided to do some hard-stops... wow! The difference is pretty big between the stock setup and my current setup. I have rotora slotted w/Axxis pads up front and completely stock in the rear.

No fade (so far) and very good stopping power!
