brake question....

ok so yesterday my friend helped me install my rotora slotted rotors f/r and goodridge brake lines. i have the legend calipers and aem pads ready to install, but left them back home so we put off installing those till later. Install went smooth but as soon as i drove off onto the freeway, any braking past 60mph made my steering wheel shake. I'm pretty sure my rotors are warped, but could it be anything else? Should I wait to see if it still shakes after i install the calipers and aem pads or would that not change a thing? Thanks guys

I wouldn't do anything else to you change the rotors, the warped rotors would just ruin your pads quicker

Someone mentioned in MrSteve's anti-Hawk-HPS pads thread that re-surfacing could exacerbate warping. Not 100% sure though...

hmmm i just went back to that thread and read allout's comment on that....i figure since these rotors are warped already there wouldn't be any harm in resurfacing them.

Did you use new pads or the same ones?

Are these new Rotoras? If not, I don't think there is any issue with resurfacing them.

this is probably all they need. a good and easy breaking-in. from the sounds of it though, he just went on to drive normally before going for some brake performance demos.

all of you go to the meet. hehe

Are your pads set in correctly? Meaning are they flat with the piston face?

Also, check to see if you have the rotors flush against the hub. I'm guessing you reused the retainer screw, correct?

Also, try to break-in your new brakes... do a few 80-5, 60-5, 45-5 semi-stops. Don't completely stop as this will lead to your pads sticking to the rotor face.

ok guys new plan...i'm gunna install my calipers and pads this weekend and double check my previous install at the same time. Then I'm going to try and do the break-in procedure again and if it still shakes like mad, i'm going to resurface the rotors. Sound good?
