When I started my car to drive home from work the engine would rev mildly to 2,500 RPM and then drop back to the normal idle around 800 or so. It would just do this over and over. If I gave it a little gas the engine responded properly. The oil tempature guage rose to it's normal just below the half-way point and it was still doing the reving when I pushed in the clutch. I did stop about 5 minutes after the engine was at normal temp according to the guage that is.

The car has never done this before, it was 23 degrees when I started it and it hadn't been run for a little over 8 hours.

Anyone had this happen to them or have any idea what the hell is going on?

that's happened to me before and i have a 01 cl-s. i don't think there is any problem...probably just the engine warming up or something, but what do i know...?

 

happens to me too in my 99 first gen too....

 

happens to me. 02 CLP. when slowing down for a red light, the needle is at, say 5k, and stays there for a few seconds, then immediately drops to 1k, or whatever in a heartbeat... very strange... only happens sometimes

 

Happens to my friends 97 Prelude pretty regularly, and happened to me for the first time like 3 weeks ago, only once tho.

it could be your idle air control valve. Have Acura check it out.
