And the best car you can get for your $ is?
A VW. It is the only car still made with a steel block. $4,000 in mods and an easy 400hp. On a car that you could drive everyday, with no reliability problems.

Got me on the ugly part some of the Jettas aren't that bad. Steel block old? yes but it works. New block aluminum lighter weight, but less strength. And it weighs roughly the same as our car.

They haven't changed the block because thay haven't needed to with turbo-tech they can make their car keep up with ours by simply making more power. Which makes up for weight difference. I was simply saying best car for money from the reliability, cost, power, fun to drive, point. Besides you would feel pretty sh*tty if you got dusted by a VW.

You can make anything go fast. If someone turboed a Kia and dusted people, they would still be driving a Kia. If you are going to feel sh*tty about losing, don't race.

No I wouldn't because by pumping up the power on that thing reliability is down the tubes. VW DOES
not make reliable cars.
You are probably comparing a turboed car to a non turboed car. Any non-turbo will be more reliable. But for a high boost turbo steel block is an easy way to go.

Yes, I am simply saying for a speed freak car. To build, race whatever that would be a easy cheap way to go. A lot of people here have been talking about turboing our car, but it is a waste of time as our engine will not handle much boost without making it unreliable.

you may disagree, thats ok... I just think that would be a good way to go for a cheaper fast car.
CL-S 32,000 plus 10,000 in mods that produces 350 hp or 18,000 plus 4,000 in mods that produces 400 hp.

Ok now you are thinking WRX too, same thing. 2-3000 and you could have 350-400hp. Still cheaper than our car. I'm not arguing against you Moo. I'm just trying to open a few peoples eyes that if they were truly looking for a ricer they should have gotten something else. Something lighter perhaps. Not to say our car can't be fast with the right mods, but with the same mods a lot of other cars will be faster and cheaper.

It just seemed kind of silly for him (Ultimac) to say that a 25k VW with 4k mods is the be all end all of performance/dollar.

sounds like someone been playing a little too much GT3.. reminds me of this guy wanting to add nitrous to a '00 CLK.. look nobody need 400hp or whatever your talking about.. once you pass the limits of what the chassis and drivetrain will handle and more importantly what you as a driver can handle, there is no point.. unless you goto RWD or preferable AWD there is no good that can come from going past 300hp.. on a fwd the front wheels would need to be wider to provide more traction which in turn would make steering harder.. on a awd car 4 tires are sharing the torque load equally (assuming 50/50 split) and they wont need to be as wide and they will give you much better control..
at the end of the day this 400hp car or whatever still has to be driven.. and if it handles like crap and you can't control it then it might as whell have 40hp.. because it is just as useful..
i would say 99% of most mod-crazy people would be much faster if they took driving classes and learned how to control the car at the limit rather then wasting money on mods which negatively affect the longevity of their cars..
