Which axle to get

I have to change the axles on my 01 Type S. I was hoping to get some recommendations as far as brand. What would be the best value?

Thanks.

I've heard that the OEM axles are just as good as some aftermarket ones, but the OEM's are a lower price.

I'm deciding between the EMPI/Empire or A1 Cardone. I'm not sure if either one of these is the OEM. If someone could shed some light on this and make a recommendation on which one to go with.

Thanks.

LOL at the OEM prices. Doesn't make sense.

The entire axle is about $150, but one of the individual joints in them is $200+

I would just get an aftermarket one with a lifetime warranty, so you never have to worry about buying another.

I would only go OEM from Acura. There are reports the aftermarket ones do no have the additional weights the stock ones have to deal with vibrations & don't last as long. Would you rather spend half the $ on Axles but then have them last half as long or get the OEM ones & be good for a longer time?

^Who cares how long they last. With a lifetime warranty, you'll never pay for them again.

Go with oem. The prices have dropped. I paid 150 per axle for new oem. Can't go wrong there. The other axles either vibrate or break prematurely. If you buy oem run a bead of sealant around the damper to prevent corrosion underneath. Also make sure the boots are tight, but not too tight that the boot tears. You don't want axle grease flinging all over the place.

The price on the OEMs have REALLY dropped. They used to be 500+ bucks, now they are the price of the crap you get in the auto parts stores, but better.

Holy shit, I guess that explains why the entire axle is cheaper than a single joint.

Me??

Axles from the dealer used to be 500-700 bucks. They are now 150. If you are going to get new axles, id rather have the OEM which is balanced better with the rubber isolator on it than the few dollar cheaper parts store unit.

If I could figure out the company that makes them for Acura, I could just buy it aftermarket and it would be a LOT cheaper cuz it won't be through Acura and it should be the same thing.

I just can't find out who makes them and I've searched everywhere.

OEM or Raxles.com

However, like the guys said, OEM's have dropped in price so get those.

When i snapped my last one OEM replacement, i think it last year around the 500k mile mark on them (even from acuraautomotiveparts) was still 500+ If i ever needed a new one i would go OEM.

Thanks for all the input guys.

I was able to get an OEM passenger side for 150.

Driver's side are not available anywhere, a number of dealers told me that it looks like they are discontinued which sucks cuz its not that old a car yet. So got the drivers side from Raxles, cost me more than OEM, 160.
