AP-Signworks Door Sills...

I've had my door sills I got from the group buy on for a few months now. Thursday they finally fell off. They were hanging on barely for quite sometime. They also got bent somehow. I'm gonna try and come up with a better way to mount them, but the overall quality isn't too great IMO. :thumbsdn:

When i put mine on, i had no problem. The quality of mine were great. On the other hand, Titand19 had a set that were way too thin. Mine were about 1/8 think. Maybe a milimeter smaller. Titand19 were 1/16 thick and his got all bent up.

Mine are barely hanging on as well. I agree the quality sucks.

I'm thinking about going down that road. I just gotta try and bend them back a little.

I used the 3m tape they supplied with it, and they look perfect and are not coming off at all after 5 months

Mine have stayed on for over a year. I caught the edge of my foot on the drivers side one and it popped off and bent a bit. That is pretty obvious when you look at it. Overall I am pleased with them and I would "miss" them if I didn't have them. A nice aftermarket part would be the whole step...black plastic with the sill "in" the plastic like the MDX has. Not a sticker like the RSX.

how much ???

Hey,

How much were these when they were part of the group buy? I paid US$160 for the JDM Inspire door sills and they look fabulous ... it came with 3M tape & epoxy so I know they'll be on my car forever ...

When I bought them, I just told AP Signworks that I was from the forum and they knocked off some $ and shipped for free. At the end of the day it might have been $80. They had slightly scratched ones for cheaper if that is too much $ for a non-speed related mod.

IMO: It is a cheap mod and it looks sweet.

Oh, and it took a while for them to ship so don't stress over the wait. Mine took 3 weeks and I've heard worse.

inspire door sill pics

Hey,

I have a pic of me installing the front door sills
in my gallery pics on the acura-tl.com site ...
same user name as this page.

But I do have a folder dedicated to the sills on:

photos.yahoo.com/soonger

Check 'em out if you want to.

Driver side fell once and I used super glue to stick it back. It seems fine so far.

I have the sills I haven't installed yet. Anyone think cutting a hole in the plastic threshold in a long oval and placing the sill under it so it shows thru like a window would work? The plastic threshold would need to be flush with the area beneath so there is no gap or space betweem the sill and the threshold.
Make sense?

I paid $55-shipped for my "slightly blemished" sills with the red S back in March. The blemishes are nearly indistinguishable. I used the 3M tape supplied, and have had no issues whatsoever. I, too, would miss them if they weren't there at this point. I'm very pleased.

I tried using the 3M tape, but it wouldn't stick. I finally used some carpenter's glue and they haven't budged since (5 months now). Unfortunately I got the Chrome door sills, and they are extremely thin. People have stepped on the passenger side one and it's already bent up.

Sounds like what I was going to do...afix it to the metal, etc & have the plastic wrap over it for extra protection.

I still think they should have taken thicker aluminum and cut out the grooves from the bottom of it so it sits perfectly flush with the plastic part of the sill. Then they could also bevel the edges and put a custom logo on top. At the recent car show here in Austin most of the new TLs, TSX, S2000, etc, all had really nice and solid door sills. Just an idea, though.

Mine's been on for a while, they haven't moved either. The shity part is that the driver side looks perfect because I never put my foot on it. But their is a bent on the passenger side now, because f*ing people who I give rides for do care, and they step on them.

But I agree, for the price I paid, the quality should have been a little bit better.

I agree 100% with having them grooved to fit flush. I was even contemplating on sanding those grooves down to make it fit better. But for now they are in my trunk waiting for me to figure out a more permanent mounting solution.

i used a dremel to gind it flat, in the first gen there are 2 raised bars.

It took about an hour to both sides. I knew that if i ever took them off i would just have to buy a new door sill.

I have to change my review of the 3M adhesive tape.

I had one fall off last night, it looked like the tape was just too frozen to hold it on.
