anyone had problems with NGK platinums?

after the install idle sometimes drops and then goes back up. and today at one point the car took long time to start and then just shut off. then I tried again and it did it 3 times. while it's shaking and I try to open throttle a little RPMs go up however car shakes like it's misfiring or lacks air. I recently isntalled icebox, put on aftermarket headers and then put on stock headers back and then changed spark plugs to NGK Platinum. When I installed Icebox I believe it did it once then and was good after that until headers and plugs. Any suggestions?

I put the NGK iridiums and I didnt have problems as severe as yours but I do have misfire codes. Its really annoying that we have to pay so much for stock laser cut plugs instead of iridiums.

The only advice I can give you is check your plugs make sure they are tight, then check the coils and make sure they are plugged in correctly, good luck...

I don't think there's really a way to plug in the coils incorrectly. it just goes in and then screwed with the bolt.

I wonder why it's happening though...? is it that the spark is not strong enough? or is it because the spark is not long enough?

upon idling, do the rpm's shoot up and down or does it idle at one point for a few seconds and then at another?

first it drops below normal idle rpms and then goes back to normal then below again. but it doesn't actually stay anywhere for a few seconds, only once it stabilized it starts to idle normally. it happened only once yesterday when it actually shutdown. but rpm fluctuation I experience more often. Why? Do you any creative ideas of what it might be?

it's just that you mentioned that you recently installed the icebox. after installing mine, i would go drive around and at a light, my rpm's would be almost at 1.5k. then as soon as i put in park, it would rev by itself. and only sometimes would the rpm's be so low that the engine would barely be running. when that would happen, there was times when it wouldn't turn on, just sputter after laying off the iginition. go figure.
that turned out to be the idle air control valve (IACV). do you have the CEL on or the !, etc?

i take it you didn't actually go to the page. the part is ~$75 and with shipped ~$80. easy to install. easiest if you pull the TB off.

forgot to mention that the plugs I got were NGK G-power platinum and not the Laser Platinum (I believe it's the stock plug). Plus my gas mileage sucks major ass along with these problems. I got 360kms on the last tank (that's 225 miles). I was getting 450kms easy before in the city, and 500-550 on higway. this sucks!
