I have in the GS. It's slower than the 03 Max or at least even with it. No progress. And you should see it lean in the curves. It's too damn big. And torque steer is even worse. These owners want to run too. Marketing is fooling the shit outta them.

It's like, they just made a bigger car and decided not to improve on anything.

If he was in the right lane, then he wasn't an asshole ; he was right where he was supposed to be. If he was in the left lane and doing less than the speed limit (which I'm assuming he was), then may may camels have their way with him and may vultures raid his cupboards.

With regards to the handling of the Maxima, Nissan did the same thing they did on the Altima, put a piddly sway bar on it. Fortunately for Altima owners, that's easily corrected.

I will agree to the gas sentiment... Although it doesn't do much worse than my CLS did.

3.5

i've ran a couple of auto 3.5 altimas one from 40-80mph and one from 50-95. same thing happened i pulled steadily from 2nd gear on. by 80 i had at least 4 cars on the first run. the second run was getting on the 91 freeway going east. guy was in front of me when he boned out. i cought him easily and went around.....
they seem to be much slower than the 5 spd 3.5's.

03' cl-s 6spd/navi (k&n)
03' tl-s (wifes car)

Yup,
it seemed pretty slow to me. I was dissappointed. The previous generation seemed a bit quicker.

I walked an '04 max this past w/end in Houston. It wasn't even a race. Then again I have a 6 speed. His car may have been an auto. I'm not sure. Up to 80 I beat him by a buslength.

from what i hear the new bone stock Max 6 speeds will run 14.5-14. 6(which for a good for a sedan). I'd say a 6 speed type S if it's stock would have all it wanted with a new Max 6 speed

personally I'd go with a C/T Icebox and a set of C/T headers. yes there expensive but there quality is excellent.

Plus I heard guys having issues with Stone Racing headers fitting.
as far as OBX i heard of them cracking.

I just traded the GTP in on a 02 Maxima 6-speed.....this car ROCKS!! It seems as fast as my modded GTP was (14.35). I'm going to get to the strip soon and see if it really is. I'm guessing this car will give a 6-speed CLS a good run and pretty easily beat an auto CLS, I haven't found one to play with yet but I'm sure I will. FWIW I totally smoked a TLS the other day.

Anyway, this is my new beast-----

And my favorite part!!

GTPguy97, I guess you had to have the manula tranny eh? I wish GM would build one that could take the TQ of the L67. Oh well.

As for the 04 Max, I had no idea they were that quick. I better not underestimate any or I might get spanked. I wonder if people are already modding them. Seems like the target market is probably non-racing types since itis so big(pot calling the kettle black).

driven both, pops has 04 Max, i have 01 CL-S. Max is prolly a bit faster cause the beter bottom end, but CL top end is much better, plus i got shitty tires 135k KM on STOCK michelins. the tires were fine till about 130K when i got to take over the car.

Yeah I was ready for a manual again...I missed it alot in the 4 years I had my GTP, though the GTP's torque goes a long way towards making you forget. I do totally love this car though, it's REALLY quick & very tight.

Seems your experiences with Maxima have been with pre 02's judging from the other post, the 02-04 auto are much quicker. My best in my 03 auto Max was 14.66 @94.01 mph and 14.10@97.87 in my 350 auto both totally stock.

I've had plenty of experience with all years of Maxima's and the years previous to '02 dont really impress me much. I guess they are pretty decent for a 3.0 NA car but bottom line is I beat the snot out of them with my GTP. Those are great times from both your Maxima & your 350....the 3.5 is an amazing motor. 350's are bad-ass.....if I was a single guy that would be my ride.

I've often considered what kind of car I'd have IF I were single. If I were a young, just-out-of-college single guy (22 y/o) I'd get the Z or S2000. But, if I were an older single person (28y/o+), I'd definitely need to get a backseat; especially if I was considering marriage or in the least actively dating.

In my case (married w/ 2 kids), I'm currently looking into an S2000 or Z roadster as a third/recreation/kids-are-away car; seeing as I'm paying off my minivan next month and have a 2002 Maxima (keeper @ this time). Man, I'm pumped.

About that 3.5L (VQ35DE); oh yeah!! it rocks!! (see sig)

Peace.
