Any Ideas

I have had my car for a week and some jack was nice enough to back into my bumper while my car was parked! I called Walker Acura where I got the car and they referred me to a guy that they use all the time. He said that he could fix the paint like new (not touch up) and it would cost 130.00!!!! He said the price would include any chip on the car, which would be great but the car doesn't have anything else on it. Is there any alternative to this that doesn't look like I used touch up paint or does touch up paint look ok. About a 1/2 inch of paint was scraped off, and I am afraid the pain will start flaking off if I don't fix it!

he says that he does a good job (don't they all). he told me he would sand it down a little and then just spray that spot. it supposed to look as good as new. I just wanted to use that $$ to get an intake. Do you know how the touch up paint looks??

I would get the entire bumper painted.....keep in mind that your paint fades with the sun...you can never match it exactly and you risk the chance of overspray into the wheel well. I am in the exact same situation (asshole backed into me). I am getting my rear bumper taken off, sanded and re-finished..

The scrape is right in front below the acura symbol and I only have 600 miles so I don't think the white paint has faded yet.

for $5 try the touch up paint rather than just dump $130 for new paint. if still not satisfied go for it.

I also bought my car from Walker. The guy they are talking about does do good work. I had a very small ding on my car when I bought it. They showed me some of his work. It looked pretty good. I did not want him to paint mine because it was on the door.

What kind of deal did they give you on your car? Just wondering if I got screwed.

My dealer REALLY screwed up trying to fix a very minor scratch they put on the back bumper while installing the spoiler on my CL-S. I refused to take the car back until it looked exactly like one of the other new CL-S' in the lot. They ended up taking the car to a good body shop. They ended up painting the whole back bumper.

I also have a white. Let me say that knock wood, I have had only two or three small chips on the front bumper. Still I bought the touchup paint (look in your drivers doorjam for the actual paint code) and the Langka for the chips. First of all with chips you cannot use the bottle brush applicator. Comes out to way to thick. Even Langka has some trouble with that. But if you use a toothpick or same as an applicator, paint it while enjoying a couple of low humidity days and be patient, it should look fine.

Again I wonder if a scratch is as treatable as a chip. I hope I don't have to find out.

Good luck
Rob
