I was just at my Acura dealer getting service done and was snooping around the lot looking at the RSX-S.....

23k RSX has "RSX" DOOR SILLS!!!

i dont get it..put it on the cheaper cars and not the more expensive, luxury minded CL/TL????

prolly old news..but new to me.

Update Update

1) Okay I need to make two things clear after getting a few PMs and the posts here on this. THESE ARE NOT ALL BEING SHIPPED TO CHICAGO. There was just a group who's having a meet april 20 in chicago and wants it then to show it off. These will be drop shipped directly to your address...don't worry.

2) The second thing...I am trying to get it done sometime between now and April 20. The reason I even MENTION that date is again, because of the guys meeting in Chicago...I'm not promising that date or anything...hell it may happen next week...it may happen in a few weeks...the manufacturer determines that...all I can do is bother him.

3) Now...with both of those things said...I'm going to go ahead and post a poll about the different ideas for trim engraving...I think these ideas below encompass everything:

All:
ACURA
ACURA CL

Type S:
ACURA CL-S
ACURA CL (Type S Symbol)
TYPE S

Having just CL TYPE S or CL (Type S Symbol) I seriously doubt will look good...nor will the symbol by itself. So let's stick with these. The poll is here:

http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...threadid=66226

Please everyone vote...I will look at the poll on Friday to determine the engravings...

4) Next...I have PICTURES of the metal samples now!!! Woohoo. Because I know that this will be using a lot of bandwidth...I've uploaded it to a college account...feel free the view the samples. I have included the small pictures as image tags...the larger ones are the links. Just so you know this is only 4 of the pieces...I showed jyang411 (my neighbor) the fifth piece...which is the actual brushed aluminum piece...and now I can't find it...I think it's in my car somewhere.

5) I have a design for the sills...that I am also placing on the server so as not to use bandwidth. The design is actually for TL but it will look the same for CLers. Tell me what you guys think. And if you want to tell me I did a good job doing the designs from scratch and spending a long time making it look perfect...I'd definitely appreciate the votes of confidence (I can just hear it now...everyone hates it ).

6) Here are all the pictures:

Sample 1:

One thing I forgot to mention...

Whoever the first gen CL guy was who was supposed to get in touch with Jeff, the manufacturer...you done did a bad thing...you said you didn't want to drive all the way out...and you wanted to meet at a mall or something? Well, Jeff showed up and waited on you for forty minutes then left...so so far you first gen'ers don't have anyone to be measured...and that means no sills so far. I didn't hear about this until yesterday via email from the manufacturer. So whoever it was who was supposed to do that let me know ASAP...because the first gen prototyper position is up for grabs...you have to:

1) Live in or be willing to drive to Atlanta, GA
2) Be able to devote an hour or so of your time
3) Drive out to the manufacturer's place (not too far out)
4) Be willing to receive a free sill kit and be the first person to have your sills on!

Anyone interested let me know...I need someone this week...like TOMORROW if possible. They can measure on the weekends, late at night, or whatever. Send me a PM, an email at Austin519@aol.com, or get me on AIM as Austin519...let me know guys...otherwise the first gen stuff may never get made...

Not worried bud Spoke with the manufacturer...anyone else selling these using the manufacturer will have to make a different design...we're deciding if we really want to do this...I think I do though . No more profiteering off my free efforts!

And as a grand finale...here is the fifth and final sample...this is the one I believe all of our kits will be made out of (if not I will request it...it's the best looking piece). Although I have it up against the shift plate trim...and it looks to be of similar color...trust me it's not...it's much lighter and more metallic...enjoy...

yeah I guess your right....it up there with "when will the RES be out" Just keep up the good work!

Also...what did we decide on the means of attachment (would like to not have to sift through 18 pages of stuff)?? Will this just be a piece smaller than the plastic one we have now and it will just screw on??

Ha well go sift through it I had to! Most of it is just people saying "count me in, I want Type S" or whatever. But you can get either 3M tape on, or screw on...but understand the tape is very strong, and with screw on you have to drill holes in the plastic...

Exactly...unless you plan on running your car until it dies...I would suggest the tape. I have samples sitting here of the metal with the 3M backing...trust me it'll hold up. Once you drill holes into your car that means either 1) pray that when you resell it they like the look or 2) get ready to buy new parts, marked up by Acura (more likely). But yeah, if you're going to keep the car for a long time...you may want to...and the screws would look very professional...it's up to you.

If you choose to use the screws, I believe the OEM door sills are about $12 apiece, so if you damage them or need to replace them, I don't think it will be that expensive.

That is correct. You can specify.

If that's the case...then well I'll see how my prototype goes and advise you guys one way or the other. If the tape is enough I'll let everyone know.

Great...keep us posted...one more quick one (I hope this wasn't already answered) so you are going to get a prototype and install it...then we are going to see pics of them on your car....then we can order...but is this the only time we can order or can we order at any time after the prototype is approved??

Are you getting the screw down, stick down, or both for the prototypes to try??

I sure will. It actually was answered but no big deal. Yes, I will get my TL prototypes for trim and sills...put them on...test them out for a day, and take a lot of pictures. The CL stuff will be the same. Then I will post all about it...installing them...how well they stick etc...and the quality. You can order anytime after directly from the manufacturer...and not have any markup. I'm sure third parties will carry them...but marked up. But you may not get the same price as you would in this groupbuy.

I'm only getting the stick downs...I don't want to destroy my sills
