Is all tint grainy?

A guy at work (no longer here) got his Avalon tinted. I rode in it a few times and it looked grainy from the inside. Does all tint look like this or did he get "the cheap stuff"

I really like the factory tint on SUVs and Minivans but assume that it is not available for would be incredibly expensive aftermarket.

My tint has no texture. There's nothing there to focus my eyes on. My dad's tint has a definite texture. I don't know what tint he got (dealer had it installed as part of the sale) but my tint is Madico's top of the line metallic smoke. Good stuff.

Sungard I think is the tint I have and there's no grain. It's also not purple-tinted junk. It's perfectly clear and it was well-applied so I don't even notice it.
I think I remember it cost me around $129 for the whole deal (35% rear, 50% sides). I kinda wish I'd gotten 35% all around though (which would be the lowest legal) but at the time I was a wuss and didn't want to attract any cops unnecessarily.

Some of the older tints seem to do that and they looks wavy too. It might just be cheaper tint too

I haven't decided yet. I want to do the clear bras and tint at the same time if I do it. I DO NOT want tint if it is grainy. Sounds like I need to look at some of the brands.

Do you know of any places in town that are good?
