Has anybody seen any comparisons or heard any difference in performance between the K&N and the Comptech air filters for the Type-S?

I didn't know that Comptech used K&N filters. The reason I chose to go with the K&N filter was because I had one in my last car (99 Prelude Base) and was happy with it. The Comptech filter was more expensive, but it's also a "two-stage foam element" as opposed to the fabric/metal filter from K&N. I couldn't find any comparison between the two other than K&N's generic marketing hype, so I went with tried and true. Boring, I know..

But, I'm STILL curious if there are ANY performance numbers comparing the two. Anyone?

I don't think they are. K&N filters are cotton gauze. From what I've seen, Comptech gets their filters from Uni filters which are a foam type.

I got K&N and i think K&N has more experience and they specialize in filters unlike comptech. So i went w/ K&N.

Where are you guys getting the K&N filters? I called K&N and they gave me a list of distrbutors in my area but none of them have the one I need in stock and many claim they have no info at all.

Help.

dudes (+ any dudettes?) wit da K&N's...

i use to have one on an old accord & noticed that i sacrificed low-end torque a little-also, made things noisier when you 'got on it'

how noticable are these on the CL?

tanks!

you wont notice anything big...its just a drop in air filter.unlike the cold air intake thing..if you really want some noticeble noise..go for the cold air intake

I have the Comptech filter and I like it, intake noise is a wee bit louder but that's fine with me

I'm sure they are both very similar so it comes down to personal preference I suppose
