Acura Recall Form (Petition)

With the amount of problem piling up for the Acura CL/TL and the obvious factory transmission defect something must be done. I am compiling a list of people to send to Acura so they will get off their asses and design a new transmission. IF we don’t say anything nothing will even happen. We will contact you before anything is sent to Acura as this is a just a preliminary information gathering phase.

PLEASE fill out any information.

Regards,
Jason

Actually this might just work. If I got two dozen or more letters from Motorola StarTAC owners complaining about something legitimate (defect), I would be inclided to respond.

But don't expect to get a recall out of it.

Exactly, they may respond, but with a bunch of PR bullshit. Nothing will probably get done until the tranny issue causes serious accidents and/or injuries.

i have a question...

honestly, what do you want a recall for?

if you have a problem with your tranny, bring it in and they fix it under warranty.

if you don't have a problem, then you have nothing to worry about.

the only thing a recall would do is incovenience the majority of owners without problems.

so honestly, WHY do you want a recall?

so what's the count of problems that you perceive?

from this board, i've only received 5 emails with tranny problems, and 1 from a tl-s owner.

being severely pessimistic, i'd expect 30.
30 OUT OF HUNDREDS OF MEMBERS AND THOUSANDS OF CL-S trannies.

droideka stated there are 180 trannies on backorder...180 out of 15k+ cl-s's.

i dont' know about you, but unless the failure rate was above 50%, i don't htink it's an 'obvious factory transmission defect'.

very well spoken, i agree 100%
and when its out of warranty. - you pay. a warranty does not mean forever, it has a time and milage limit, thats whey they offer service contracts

and we all know that some people hear about others problems, they look for them on there own cars, drive your car, if you experience a problem have your dealer repair it, simple.

What will happen? The only thing you'll have left is the impression that Acura tranny's are pretty lousy. What do you think will happen? Same as with a TV or a computer or a chair. No one promised that your equipment would last throughout your entire length of ownership. If you feel that you paid for it and it didn't live up to your expectation, you are free to not purchase in the future. But don't expect the Government to bail you out (or force Acura) with a recall for poor workmanship. The Government doesn't police the economy for cheap and inferior products; otherwise you would have millions of recalls. If your product might hurt somebody, then they will get involved; otherwise you are [mostly] on your own.
