Acura Navi DVD

I know how easy DVDs break so I decided to make a copy of mine for backup. Since we're not going to be able to buy a new complete updated DVD anytime soon, why not protect what you already have?

So I gave my DVD to a good friend and he burned a backup copy for me. I put the backup copy in my Navi and it worked just fine.

So now I have a backup of my version 2.04. Has anyone else tried this?

DVD break easily?

Funny, but I've NEVER broken a DVD. Especially one that's supposed to never be removed

interesting.. I was wondering if making a copy was possible... I just recently got a DVD burner, but my disk is old. I wanted to find out if it would work though. My disc is factory installed, but the dealer told me recently that somehow mine developd a scratch. And I have NEVER removed the disc, so it may not break, but it can be scratched via dust I suppose. Point is, if anyone has the disk in the Bay Area, I would be interested in trying to burn it.

How would the dealer even know if your DVD had a scratch on it, unless they removed it? See the point?

Your DVD did not get scratched by dust.

You guys crack me up! Everybody wants free shit......

Tom2 .. you really must be a "resident a$$hole" to be saying such things. The reason the dealer removed it was becasue I was complaining it would jump, or freeze temporarily. The dealer said to bring it in. After 5 minutes he said it had some minor scratches on it, and teh only way to fix it that he knew of was to buy the update. Now he was either pulling my leg, or wanted to suck me dry of $150 or whatever. I passed, and just deal with the temporary inconvenience. If you don't know the whole story, keep your mouth shut and you fingers off the keyboard. If you read my post, you would see that I wrote that I, I repeat, I never removed the disc. I have no idea how it got scratched. Maybe it was scratched when I first got it, and out of pure joy, just never really noticed, but I do know I have never pulled the disc out. And no one else drives the car, so it is unlikely someone pulled it out without my knowledge or consent. As far as free stuff, what do you have against it? You would rather pay MSRP for eveyrthing huh? Did you not negotiate for your car price, isn't that an attempt to get something for nothing? Or did you just hand over the requested amount and smile about it. Why don't you stick to posting relevant posts, instead of haranguing others because you think you have 2 cents to give. My point was not that discs can break, but that they can in fact get ruined. What was your point?

"My point was not that discs can break, but that they can in fact get ruined." >>> Oops, I meant that discs are unlikely to ("can't" is a bit strong and over-assumptive) break.

Well mine is likely to get broken because I remove mine weekly for a weekend cleaning. I have nearly 70,000 on my Naiv disk. It only takes about 10 minutes to put it in the wet wipe machine and 30 minutes to dry. Then I'm as good as new. You should see how smoothly the screen scrolls on Monday.

That's right, I am the resident asshole. But you're clearly the resident dumbass.

The reason the dealer removed it was becasue I was complaining it would jump, or freeze temporarily. The dealer said to bring it in. After 5 minutes he said it had some minor scratches on it, and teh only way to fix it that he knew of was to buy the update.

I wonder how it could have possibly got scratched, if it was never removed? See, that's where you're stupid- it can't scratch itself. And if you never removed it (or anyone else for that matter), then obviously the dealer is fucking you. Sorry that you're too stupid to figure that out.

Now he was either pulling my leg, or wanted to suck me dry of $150 or whatever. I passed, and just deal with the temporary inconvenience. If you don't know the whole story, keep your mouth shut and you fingers off the keyboard.

Another dickboy telling people to keep their mouth shut... LOL, what an asshole. I don't give a fuck about your story, I just think you're another idiot looking for a free copy of a $150 DVD. I can't believe how fucking cheap some of you people are......How did you ever afford an Acura, if you can't afford to pony up $150 for a DVD?

If you read my post, you would see that I wrote that I, I repeat, I never removed the disc. I have no idea how it got scratched. Maybe it was scratched when I first got it, and out of pure joy, just never really noticed, but I do know I have never pulled the disc out.

No shit, sherlock. Let's use a little common sense here, shall we? If YOU never removed the DVD and you know for a fact that nobody else every removed it, then what do we know so far? Simple- The DVD was installed at either the Acura Factory or Acura Dealer that sold you the car. Could it have been scratched from the beginning? I doubt it, unless it has been skipping since day one. So assuming that it hasn't, it is safe to assume that the DVD was not scratches from the beginning and SOMEBODY took it out and put a scratch on it. Who is the most likely culprit? Hmm.... how about your dealership mechanic that removed it? Holy shit, what a revelation.

How fucking brainless must YOU be for not pulling it out and looking at it yourself, if it was giving you problems? Anyone with an IQ over 30 would have thought to do that themselves.

As far as free stuff, what do you have against it? You would rather pay MSRP for eveyrthing huh? Did you not negotiate for your car price, isn't that an attempt to get something for nothing?

Are you 10 years old or something? Do you really think negotiating is trying to "get something for nothing"? You have a lot to learn, little man.....

Negotiating the price of a car is entirely legal and quite normal. Buying a pirated copy of a DVD is totally illegal. Are you too stupid to understand that?

Why don't you stick to posting relevant posts, instead of haranguing others because you think you have 2 cents to give. My point was not that discs can break, but that they can in fact get ruined. What was your point?

My point was that you're an ignorant fool.

Then again, I should have realized I was dealing with a retard the moment that you said that your navi DVD:

"can be scratched via dust I suppose"

That's why I want to backup my DVD. In case it gets scratched mysteriously.

For the record, I do not plan to sell pirated DVDs. I think you all know this.
