96 POS car review...

Decided to take a trip to Atlanta this weekend (drive from NJ), and while I thought it would be a good idea to take the 2003 Acura -w- NAVI (since I had no idea how to get there) my wife wanted to take the POS. The 'POS' is our '96 Dodge Caravan we bought to truck around the dogs and go to home depot with. So off we go with us, our POS, and our two dogs for a 12 hour ride to bunglefvck. So how did it drive???

Sh!t. Absolute sh!t. It was loose, bouncy, noisey, slow, uncomfortable, and dumb. But it did serve it's purpose. It got us there and back (2000 miles). On top of that, it made me have a new appreciation for the acura. When I drove my 41 mile work commute today, I smiled the entire way. Even when that fvcker in the civic tried to kill me by cutting me off to save himself .0001 seconds, I was giddy (I still cut his rice ass off back though, and showed him what 4th gear @ 80mph sounds like)... When the soccer mom in the mini van drove 45 in the fast lane, I stayed calm (even when she refused to pull over). I did of course dream about ending her and her miserable offspring, so that the world would be rid of anything resembling her. And no, I did not get upset at the 18 wheeler that spat a brick-sized-rock at my windshield as he sped by me at 300mph, leaving a permanent 'mini-ding' in my glass to remember him by. (although I did imagine smashing that brick upside his redneck-a$$ head).

All in all, I must say that the POS serves it's purpose.......To make the Acura look good...

I am now at peace...(with high blood pressure)

Where in Atlanta did you roam?? That is one heck of a weekend road trip. I would have to imagine about ten to twelve hours one way.

I am assuming you are looking in the southern Forsyth county region; just outside of Cumming?? There is some serious growth in that are. I live about ten to fifteen miles just west of that area.

As far as suggestions, I haven't been following the home market too much lately to know of new developments. But I can say that Forsyth County has a lower tax burden than Fulton County to the south so it does make it a good choice. There is pretty much every price range to choose from; from mid $100k to well over $500k. It just depends on what you are looking for.

Thanks scalbert!!!

Yeah, we were looking at the Cumming area for just that reason (tax). I can't believe the house/tax you get for your money down there... I was looking at $1500-$2000 in tax for a MONSTER (vs almost $7K in Joisey for nothing). We are hoping for the green light from my company, and if we get it, WE ARE THERE!!! Really beautiful area and much more pleasant than NJ.... (no one tried to kill me)....

NICE!!!

Right again, our 96 Caravan was the biggest POS I have ever owned. Dumped it last year thank God.

Sounds good devnull, let me know when/if this moved is planned. And yes, you can get a very nice sized home and land for a decent amount around here. The area is nice along with most of the rest of metro Atlanta. Plus, where you would be located it is just an hour trip to get up to the mountains.

Plus, you'll like the winters down here much better. But you would have to work on your southern accent a little or some folks might not understand you.

Tax wise Forsyth county it better, the property tax in Fulton county is way too high compared to Forsyth. Cumming is a pretty nice place, I used to live in Alpharetta, if you don't mind the tax there (Fulton County), that's a good area to stay. I paid about $2200 in property tax for a $200k house.

Please, don't remind me... there once was a time when i came out to see that every morning... those were the pre-covercraft days.

I hate winter

Every time i drive/ride in another car i end up appreciating my CLS more and more. I hate being a snob about my car, but i love her so much.
