70mm throttle body?

I am doing a build on my 2001 Cl-S this summer and one of things I am looking for is a new throttle body. I did some research on 80mm throttle bodies but that seems like way to much of a hassle. Is there any 70mm bolt on throttle bodies?

OBX are closest thing.
The universal's are a pita.
I think i'm starting to have a shaft leak on mine. I have another to replace it but, I don't want to because of the work needed to make the map setup alone.

So pretty much replacing the throttle body is to much of a hassle? Is it possible to bore out the stock throttle body to around 70mm?

I think they can be bore 2-3mm larger than oem.

I would try the 76mm blox and you will only have to make something for the icav witch is not very hard.

I meant blox before too not obx.

you can put any honda b-series throttle body on it will work. its bolt on the only thing you gotta do is buy p2r throttle cable bracket and iacv adapter that they sale together , or modify your own throttle cable bracket and make your own iacv adapter, and also port match the thorttle body to your intake manifold. Throttle bodys you can buy are skunk2, blox, bdl, omni,

I might try this one, main reason is it has BOTH cable wheels so you can retain cruise control. None of the other ones allow you to.

These motors LOVE air. The more you can get them the better. 80 seems to not even be enough and why a few are running twin stock type-s tbs.

just get the 76mm blox b series its bolts up fine just have to put the throttle bracket on a little different... install should only take about and hour and its a huge difference in power if you have other breather mods

did it bolt up nice?? any idle issues??
do u use the tps it comes with or the same one off the old tb.

does all the piping fit over it still?

does our iacv bolt up to it?
i am highly considering this mod if it's not too labour intensive.

i am jonesing for another HP MOD

oh and... do i need to the port out the manifold then??

There would be no point in it with the stock manifold You would have to have teh 09+ intake manifold.

Old

what piping

No, you have to do some custom work for it to work

not if you use the 09+

Also with the Blox, you loose your cruise control.

i'm considering doing this mod. I'd have to port the blower a little bit i'm guessing too. Would this be worth while with the s/c'er?

Its actually simple to do if you know what your doing.
The only way to get the most gains out of the bigger throttle body is to port match the manifold but the cls manifold you could only port it open so much.

And its not hard either. Its just not a simple remove 2 bolts and replace like it sounds like you want it to be.

im in school now for furniture design and i got a job. both of which require my car when i need it which needs to be reliable.. and I don't like tinkering with my ride.. There is nothing more annoying than doing a mod only to create problems.

If there is one promise I made myself with this car, that is. To not cause a problem by trying to mod the car.

Which happened with my suspension cause now there is a dirty knocking noise when going over bumps coming from the back (because the bolt that connects the shock to the rest of the suspension has play in there). (we are talking about half a millimeter but that's enough for it to knock around when going under 60km/h). All i need to do is make some bigger bolts.. or something!!!

that pisses me off enough and it's not even interfering with the drivability. if i had a wonky idle i'd go balistic

What is the maximum the oem manifold can be ported? I have mine ported but can't remember off the top of my head.

That hybrid racing tb is very nice, but very expensive also considering I don't use cruise control.

whoa whoa whoa,

hold on dont get discouraged the tps sensor comes with it and it works fine, the iacv u can just use a block off plate and it runs fine....i rigged mine so it kind of surges a LITTLE but nothing crazy its not bad enough for me to make a better one. its very simple.... only other thing i did to my manifold was port it with a dremel with no micro meter and crappy bits to get close to matching the inlet size.

I had this car in college when i was broke so i went the cheap route on everything muffler shop 3" exh (try to minimize the bends and dont Y the exh for looks, leave a dummy muffler if u want the looks) with 2 resonators and xs headers , pullies, 4" pvc intake dynoed at 265 whp ....my mods cost less than 1500 ... some people spend that one exh set up. im not knocking them they have better quality bends and welds but this is my car and how i wanted to mod it
