It's normal. It's not really a misfire, but it appears to the ECU as one because your not getting traction while still moving forward. It happens. Nothing to worry about. Getting some better tires helps & stepping off the gas until you have traction.

Had that happen to me for first time like 2 weeks ago. Got out of work and it was raining like crazy and damn cold out. Wanted to get home quick so I just punched it going on the highway. Lost traction and hit the limiter in 2nd and I seen the light come on and it scared the shit out of me untill it went off.

Only time I can think of something like that happening was when I bounced it off the rev-limiter a couple times a few years ago.

it's not a misfire. the ECU thinks it is but it's not. Too dumb to know what it is.

yeah the CEL should not becoming on (especially blinking) due to loss of traction,
and yeah the blinking means it is proably misfiring , but the main thing is that it sees that the cat is in intidement (spelling?) danger, so the ecu is going into safe mode to try and protect the cat

btw: also get the codes checked, they should be saved in memory, even if the light is off

^. Our cars dont store the code with the flashing cel when it goes out, i have checked with various scanners and nothing comes up.

I only get the flashing CEL when i loose traction and get axle hop. When its just at a loss of traction it never happens.

like what scanners, some definetly do more then others (are you just using a code reader???)

then if it happens with axlehop, the ecu must be seeing the motor speed up and slow down rapily enough that it interepts as a misfire

i've launched my car numerous times even burning rubber through 2nd into 3rd and never got a check engine light. maybe its throwing a misfire because of your spark plugs from the excessive revving but it never happened to me.
