380HP+ Thunderbird coming!
Look for a hot update of the Ford Thunderbird to mark the car’s 50th anniversary, sources reveal. Plans call for the ’05 model to feature a version of the supercharged V-8 currently used by the new Jaguar S-Type R, which means somewhere north of 380 horsepower. The current Thunderbird has taken hits for body shake and handling. But by then, the platform on which the T-bird is based, a hybrid of the S-Type and Lincoln LS, will also be updated, making it stiffer and better handling. This should better position the ‘Bird against performance-oriented import roadsters, such as the Porsche Boxster. Also look for a minor exterior facelift and a markedly more luxurious interior design.

I like the car, cool it'll have some ooompf! now. It needed it before. Wonder how it is selling?
EDIT:
I do wish they gave the body a little more charector though, like the older t-birds.

Are they gonna make the hood scoop, actually functional? Get rid of the LS underbody? It is just a Linc LS. It does need lots of oommph. To make it better, at lleast be able to smoke the tires without a brake!

I looked at one that was parked here at work once. Too me it looks like it doesn't have enough room inside for such a big car. I'd personally like it better if it had like a 2 foot deep space behind the seats so you could store stuff there. Because you don't want to have to put everything in the trunk. Like say you're on a roadtrip and have a ice chest, a coat or some heat/cold sensitive articles. You want that inside with you. That and make one w/ a sport suspension.
