Hey, my dad was in the car with me only and he was driving my moms 1999 Jaguars XJ8 Vanden Plas. We are around las olas, a place in ft lauderdale florida. So, my dad is trying to merge into the middle lane because the left lane is being blocked off temporarily. So, this punk in a IS-300 speeds up quickly right beside my dad while he is trying to merge into the lane the Is-300 is. My dad just guns the thing and blows away past the Is-300 and a couple other cars and then he switches lanes all the way to the farthest right. Then my dad was just going 70 and all of a sudden the hot shot comes pulling up right beside my dad again. The Is-300 punk who was like 21, gave my dad a look and revved his engine. The guy hits the pedal to the metal and my dad just guns it as well. The race wasn't even funny my dad destroyed the IS300 probably about 3 car lengths and then just shut it down. We hit probably 125. Man IS-300 can not even beat big old sedans Hahha gotta love it

 

I think those Jag's can kill CLS also, right?

 

yeah, they are very slow...but ever IS300 owner will ALLLLLWAAAAAYSSS say "yeah, but with a turbo, im fast as hell, wait till i get a turbo!!" thats the common excuse....

Why is it that happends all the time. Trying to merge, & the guy in the lane speeds up on purpose? Good for your dad.

 

we got a kid(he's a jerk) at school with a IS300 all he did was put 17 or 18 inch rims on it and a mild system he thinks it's SOOOOO HOT. I admit it looks pretty nice but far as fast it's not that fast(i think so. I died laughing one time he came in saying he beat a Mustang Cobra 5 speed. I said B.S. he's like honestly dude I did. I said maybe it was some dude that didn't even want to waste his gas to race you. he'll be on a 4 lane road in town and at stoplight and even the car remotely performance he start revving to him. (I'm waiting for him to get spanked in front of a bunch of people)(i know he got smoked if he actually raced a Cobra 5 speed)(I like the CL-S just as much you guys but there's no way we could even run against a Cobra 5-speed)

Yeah But the Jag holds speeds up to 130, my dad has an XJR which really flys but he also has an XK8 which is the same as the XJ8 and that thing really moves to 125. It's fucking continous power, although nothing compared to the XJR.

 

It's funny, but if people still buy the IS 300 KNOWING it will get killed by most other cars, well it must mean speed is not everything, no?

Your Dad's car has a 290hp V-8, he BETTER kill an IS 300.

 

Personally I like the way the IS300 looks, especially with a nice kit.

You're right though, without the turbo and engine swap it's nothing in the performance category.

 

Oh, it is not a very quick car until up to speed. I am sure the owners know that (seeing as they can now get beat by the new Altima and Accord). But hey, if it was all about speed, we'd all be chilling with Pull T.

 

If that Lexus guy did that to your dad, Hes an A$$hole period! I admit most the IS300 guys I run into try me too and they should know better unless they are SC or Turbo

Know what you mean...had to "rape" one yesterday. I mean dude kept insisting to race. I eventually took off and it was like the Energizer Bunny...keeps going and going. Finally I slow down and he gets close to me and wouldn't pass me after that. I guess he learned his lesson. Hey at least he didn't do a ricer fly by.

 

Personally, I like the stock IS300 ride better than the stock CL-S ride -- it is stiffer.
Throw on new suspension goodies, and that problem is solved.
But come on, the IS300 can't hang with CL-S. Just listen to the engines or run the specs, whatever, and it is clear that CL-S will smoke the IS300.
I have one friend with an IS300, but I haven't convinced him to safely drag me yet. And I'm betting I never will.

uhh, you guys might want to stop bashing on the IS300. 1SICKLEX might have a fit.

But I agree, I love the CL's more. But you have to admit, the IS is a pretty nice car, just a little over priced I think.

 

i like the look of the IS300 also...but as for speed...you would be barking up the wrong tree with that car.....My friend and i got in to a friendly race once. My CL-S and his stock IS300. Both had one passneger and i beat him EVERY which way you could think of..rolling, from a stop whatever....im sure i would have had him in reverse if i tried !!!..Nevertheless..the car is nice looking to me, just lacks the performance i like to have, and GET from my CL-S.

 

Just remember when the CLs first came out in the early 90s.......it wasn't that fast either give Lexus a few years and the IS300 will be faster. I just can't wait for the New RL with the rearwheel drive and more HP comes out. You can bet I will be test driving that baby!

 

Acura is too chicken shit to do a RWD and more HP on the RL...they would have done it long time ago. Let's face it, why go and try to topple the LS430 by another Jap automaker when the results will the same every year...get the second or third place trophy.

 

I thought motor trend said they were gonna make it next year or something like that! I think it was gonna have like 350hp and be rear wheel drive. I will still wait for it

 

Speed isn't everything. Different strokes for different folks.

 

Hell, seems the next NSX won't be a V-8, nor the RL. I don't think ANYONE knows what is next. What I DO know is Honda cannot possibly fock up, a focked up car. So it has to do somewhat better. I honestly have no idea (not give a fock).

 

IS300 is not fast but it handles beautifully though. If I lose in IS300, I can always go back out with my M Roadster. See you on the street!!!
