130k miles and still on stock shocks... Normal?

I'm approaching 130k miles on my 01 type-s.
The car has never been lowered and has always been on the stock 17s.
I have not noticed a reduction in ride quality over the years, although it may have been so gradual that I can't tell.

Is it standard for stock shocks to last this long?
When do they normally need replacing?

Part of the reason I am asking is because the CL is my daily driver, but lately I've been itching to tastefully lower it. I am trying to justify my desires to do so. If I had to change the shocks, it would be a great time to get some springs and tokico blues or something of the sort lol.

Thanks all!

I put on my coilovers around 120k, so you are in good company and well-justified in doing so.

They will wear so slowly that you wont even notice. Odds are they are well worn. Replace them and you will notice a difference.

I am also in the same boat. Sometimes I wonder if ride quality could be better. Still seems firm tho. (117k, original owner, 2000Aug)

technically the shocks are supposed to last the life of the car (as long as they are not modified aka lowering springs not used), my moms mdx still has good shocks and springs on her 2001 and it has 200k+ miles, most of the time shocks get blown do to a really quick compression like hitting a pothole of some sort.

They will last a while as long as they are stock, if you want a firmer ride you can buy some tokico blues.

133k on stock shocks with lowering springs (Tein H-techs). They seem fine to me.

230k so far, no leaks and rides great. Or at least like it did with a lot less miles. Personally I would like a firmer and more controled ride like the wifes 09 TL.

Which in turn puts a bigger weight load on the motor mounts which in turn will also wear gradually without much notice.
Sound right fsttyms1?

Also seemed to have smooth ride yet when i changed shocks and motor mounts at 140k noticed good improvement.

when I changed my front at 140k they would compress but not come back like they were supposed to. Same with the back at 180-190

That's generally the rule for high mileage cars with stock suspension.
