I think I found some ammo for the IS fight! Check out their video, their side mirrors are OBX quality and break off!

sweet videos. I didn't know they published these.
For some reason in that 5mph test looked like the TL was moving much faster.
Also, do they let go of the accelerator right before impact. Or do they let the car cruise in Neutral to the object?

I it has to be in nuetral b/c the car wouldn't have bounced like that, if it wasn't in neutral there would have been damage..... my sister tapped a pole with my dads TL and put a gash in the bumper.

Damn it! the new Accord holds better than the TL!!!
The Accord 03 Cabin frame Stayed 100% intact and never twisted...
The TL frame as you can see buckled up a bit...

Its always better to be in a bigger, longer, more heavier car during an accident! This is why suv owners survive collisions more! and don't get too carried away with this star safety rating crap too! If a big ol' lincoln navigator gets a 3 in front impact, and a civic hatch back gets a 5, which car would you rather be in if these two cars were to collide? also, how many people slam their cars into walls? don't you slam it into other cars? take this stuff with a grain of salt!
Yes, the "shell" of the TL did show slight body frame flexing. This is a good thing because the energy of the impact is going to the body's frame and hopefully not to the occupant, which is what it's designed to do.
For the Accord, there is no such body frame flexing which means it's too stiff and the energy of the impact could resonate throughout the cabin and hence possibly absorbed by the occupant.
Check how the indicator on the roof of the Accord barely shows any signs of movement.
So if you see minimal damage to the body frame of a collision vehicle, it doesn't necessarily mean an occupant would suffer minimal injury from this result. But rather the frame was intended to absorb as much energy as possible.
Also the Accord tended to deviate from its original direction of travel by about 45-50 degrees, whereas the TL had about a 30 degree change. This could be because of the mass difference between the two. And the accord's dummy reacting more wildly than the TL's dummy was also interesting.
torqueaholic: regarding "how many people slam their cars into walls?" It's the same as slaming 65mph into the back of a big rig going 20mph, hence a 45mph crash test. So that "wall" can represent any rear end collision with a margin of 45mph, no?
By the way,
to the TL, especially for the 5mph rear end test.
