03 CLS: Problems Not Under Warranty?
03 CLS: Problems Not Under Warranty?
Hey everyone, I'm looking at buying a 03 CL-S and am wondering what some things are that I should check that wouldn't be covered by the warranty?
It's a 6-speed so I'm assuming it won't have any of the tranny issues but is there anything else I should pay close attention to?
Thanks for the help!

If its not covered under warrenty, when it wheres out there are cheaper and better after-market parts.
And the only thing would be the brakes warp prematurely sometimes, but even then some dealers may turn them under warrenty since there was a TSB.
Go for it. THe CL-S 6 speed is a great car that should last you forever.

Most warranty repair issues are just simple rattles in the interior of the car.
But like someone said, IMO, one of the biggest things is brakes that seem to warp as soon as you step on the brake peddle. Easily and better off replaced through aftermarket parts.

That same trip in they would NOT replace the faulty SRS sensor in the passenger seat as they said it was only covered to 50K. You would think a safety issue like the SRS system would be covered longer but I guess they don't want to cover a $500 plus repair.

I have 86k miles on my, maybe more, and my only problem out of the ordinary was the seat heater going bad and the subframe bolts being loose. I now have a suspension issue, but probably from an accident I had.

I argued them down about how that mirror should be replaced under warranty. I've never had one complaint about King Acura except for this one. Other than that, they've been great. I guess the Service Manager was in a foul mood the day I went to get that replaced.

2 rear view mirrors replaced
Driver's seat mount track replaced
two driver's seat heaters replaced, almost caught the seat on fire
driver's seat re-appolstered
third transmission, new one has idle problems with engine performance intentionally downgraded by Honda inc.
torque converter replaced
navigation system replaced
engine mount replaced
three wheels replaced due to scraping on curbs
front rotors replaced, rears turned
Poor paint quality
My friends all bust on me, I always have the car in the shop.
This is all before 70K miles. So the answer is NO, I won't be buying another Honda product. The value of this car has dropped so badly that it's hardly worth selling anymore. The best I've been offered is 13.5K, I bought it certified for 23K.
